Kim Ji-ho Named Seoul Tap Water PR Ambassador

Actress Kim Ji-ho has been named PR ambassador of the Seoul tap water brand "Arisu". Kim will begin her duties as a PR ambassador Sept. 1, when the Arisu Festival--aimed at promoting the safety of tap water in Seoul--will be held in front of Seoul City Hall.

An official from the Office of Waterworks of Seoul Metropolitan Government said the office wanted the PR ambassador to be a married woman who cared about the well-being of her family. Kim's duties will include promoting Seoul tap water as part of events marking the 99th anniversary of tap water in Korea. He added that Kim will likely contribute to promoting the clean and safe tap water of the country's capital city.

Kim says the appointment made her once again realize the importance of tap water in everyday life. She promised to the take the lead in providing the public with accurate information on tap water as a homemaker rather than as a celebrity.

One Tuesday evening in Yoido, Seoul, the nation's entertainment mecca, a group of elementary students acted out a scene.

A small boy lays on the floor wearing a blank look on his pale face in a room at MTM Communications, a talent agency that runs acting classes for child actors. Sitting next to him, another preteen boy and a girl start crying.

"Don't die, my little brother. You have to live. You can get over the cancer… This can't be happening to him", the girl cries out with tears on her face and in her eyes. Their acting classmates sit on the other side of the room, weeping at their performance.

The 90-minute session was over after some more emotional role-playing and physical practices. It appeared to be playful, but these actors-to-be were serious. While their peers are at after-school math and art classes, these students come here three times a week.
