[Talk of the town] Big Bang duo star in murder movie

Two members of the boy band Big Bang have been cast in the TV movie "19".

This isn't the first time the two Big Bang members have been on screen.

T.O.P. (Choi Seung-hyeon), the oldest in the band, debuted in the 2007 KBS-TV drama "I Am Sam" and is currently shooting KBS-TV's "Iris".

Seung Ri, the youngest in the group, was the main character in the musical "Sonagi" last year.

He also appeared in "Why Did You Come To My House - Movie", a movie starring Kang Hye-jeong released last month.

"19", a movie with stories by Japanese writers filmed by Korean directors, talks about three 19-year-olds involved in a murder.

The singers will be playing the young students along with Korean actress Heo Yi-jae.

But acting isn't the only thing that T.O.P. and Seung Ri have been working on for this movie.

According to the film's director, Jang Yong-woo, the two young men have each written songs for the soundtrack as well.

Jung's Musical Promenade Thru Paris

Singer-songwriter Jung Jae-hyung has released a new album, " Promenade ", under the Sony Classical label, and some may be surprised to realize that this is actually the soundtrack for the currently showing film "Why Did You Come to My House - Movie".

The former pop star has written scores for several movies including "Addicted" (2002) and "Changing Partners" (2007), but Promenade involved a different creative process. The tracks may have been inspired by the quirky love story starring Kang Hye-jeong, but the movie's postponed release gave Jung a good year to work on the music as if it were a solo project.

"Normally with films I have to be efficient because I'm given a limited amount of time, and I sometimes have to even rewrite songs if the movie's ending changes", the 37-year-old told The Korea Times in a recent interview in Seoul. "It functions as a film soundtrack but I wanted it to have a life on its own".

Epik High Gets Serious About Music

"Expect the unexpected". That's what Tablo, frontman of popular hip-hop group Epik High, says fans can expect from their upcoming concert tour in the United States, Japan and Korea.

But he might as well have been talking about Epik High's career. The trio, composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz, burst onto the Korean music scene six years ago, armed with catchy hip-hop tunes with socially relevant lyrics and a positive message.

After five studio albums and numerous hit songs and awards under their belt, Epik High members surprised everyone with their decision to break from a major record label and go independent.

The band met with The Korea Times last week at a studio in Hongdae, where members were in the middle of rehearsals for their upcoming concert tour and candidly talked about the ups and downs of starting their own company.
