Jeans brands seem to be replacing cosmetics as the most coveted prize among Korea's advertising contracts. Traditionally, becoming the " face " of cosmetics brands was the recognition of bona fide star status. Actresses Lee Young-ae, Shim Eun-ha, Ko So-young and Lee Mi-yeon were the dominant faces in cosmetics advertising for a long time, but a new generation of stars are drawn to pants.

Local jeans brands now advertise using big names like Lee Hyo-lee, Son Dam-bi, Han Hyo-joo, Han Ji-hye, Han Chae-young, Kim Ah-joong, and Han Ye-seul. Actress Kim Ah-joong was appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the promotion of FranceExpress, an annual French cultural festival, Wednesday.

Laure Coudret Laut, director of the French Cultural Center in Seoul said the actress will take part in various events to help promote French culture for the next three months.

Actor Lee Byeong-heon and actress Ye Ji-won were former promotional ambassadors.

Kim appreciated that the cultural center had given her an opportunity to represent France, a country she admires.

'The Accidental Couple' Draws Curtain with Happy Ending

The KBS2 drama "The Accidental Couple" aired its final 16th episode on June 18, which saw a happy ending where Han Ji-soo (Kim Ah-joong) and Gu Dong-baek (Hwang Jeong-min) married for real.
