Daejong Film Fest Showcases Trends

South Korea's esteemed 45th Daejong (Grand Bell) Film Festival held in southern Seoul, showcased the latest local box office trends, with its stronghold of original thrillers, stylistic period pieces and experimental projects. While superstars grabbed the limelight as expected, hitherto overlooked veteran actors and young debutant directors shined the most, suggesting that blatant star power, be it a reputed director or ravishing screen beauty, don't always guarantee ticket sales or awards.

The red carpet event took place outside the COEX Convention Hall in a sea of blinding camera flashes as glamorous cineastes filed in. Screen beauties like Han Chae-young, Park Jin-hee and Sin-Ae were elegant in cleavage-bearing, long evening gowns while others such as Kim Yoon-jin and Ko Ah-ra chose mini-dresses to show off their figures.

One of the masterpiece films "The Chaser" has been nominated for 11 different awards for the 45th annual Daejong Film Festival that will be on the 27th at Seoul Samsungdong Coex Convention Hall. The festival will be aired in the SBS channel live.

Last year, actress Kim Ah-joong and announcer Choi Ki-hwan received the highest award. Wondergirls who's "So Hot" song is a big hit performed "Tell Me" and Ok Joo-hyun performed a song from the musical "Chicago". We anticipate which performers will be performing in the festival this year.

Actress Kim Ah-joong's co-written book 'Emotion Communication' was published on May 30.

'Emotion Communication' was divided into six themes of emotions that were essential for the evolution of mankind: fear, anger, disgust, sadness, love, and happiness. For each emotion, it studies an example and type, reaction when it's experienced, and expressions of it in terms of brain science, physiology, psychology, and communication.

Profess Kim Kwang-su approached the emotions in a scholarly way, and Kim Ah-joong expressed what she felt as an actress, and she also was the model for the pictures of these emotions.

Kim Ah-joong is planning to donate all the proceeds from the book to a treatment center for children who have a disability in expressing their emotions. ...| More
