By Han Sang-heeStaff Reporter Lee Min-ho, the star of the hit drama "Boys Over Flowers", is holding his first fan meeting in Japan. The 22-year-old actor has visited other Asian countries, including Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, for promotional events before, and this time he will meet his Japanese fans at "Minoz JAPAN First Event" in Tokyo on Nov. 26. The event was to be held only once, but with tickets selling out quickly, organizers decided to hold a couple more. Specific dates and venues of the additional events were not confirmed. Before the actual fan meeting, Lee will also appear on talk shows and mini-concerts during the Korea Entertainment Festival, which will be held at Universal Studios Japan, Nov. 22. Korea Times Correspondent Even before K-pop, Filipinos were long fans of imported dramas. Soap operas and drama series have become a staple for daytime and primetime viewing in the Philippines. In the 1990s, Mexican telenovelas became the mania, with huge hits like "Rosalinda" and "Marimar" attracting ratings above 50 percent. Asian dramas, including Korean, have become hits in the 2000s. The huge demand from viewers for Asian telenovelas has prompted Philippine TV stations to import Korean and Taiwanese dramas. Top Korean drama series (locally called "Koreanovelas") like "Lovers in Paris", "Full House", "My Name is Kim Sam-soon", "Stairway to Heaven" and "Coffee Prince" were imported and dubbed in Filipino, instantly becoming hits. Staff Reporter MBC is enjoying top ratings with the hit period drama "Queen Seon-deok", and the broadcaster is expected to continue captivating viewers with its new sitcom "High Kick Through The Roof" and dramas "No Limit" and "Assorted Gems" (aka "Jewel Bibimbap"). "No Limit" made headlines when it was confirmed that U-Know from the popular boy group TVXQ would appear as the ambitious football player Cha Bong-gun. It will be the first time for the 23-year-old singer to appear in a television series, and according to the production team, he has been working hard not to disappoint fans. "Even after a long day of filming, I come home and I can't wait to go back to the set", he was quoted as saying by MBC. When asked about his first attempt at acting, the singer said, "I'm pretty brave. Having a limit is like growing up. You have to overcome it to move forward. Nowadays half the country is rushing home after work to catch the latest episodes of the hit drama "Queen Seon-deok", which airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on MBC.And with every episode the addiction appears to be growing stronger for many. The television drama is about the first queen to rule in Korea. Succeeding her father, Queen Seon-deok ruled Silla from 632 to 647 during a period of intense conflict with the neighboring Baekje and Goguryeo kingdoms. The show, which first aired on May 25, started off strong with a 16.6 percent rating, according to TNS. In just three episodes its rating rose to 20 percent. By the fourteenth episode the rating had jumped to well over 30 percent. At the end of the 24th episode, when the twin sister of soon-to-be Queen Seon-deok dies after she is struck by a poisonous arrow, the rating edged close to 40 percent.
