SS501 to Release Mini-album in Korea

The five-member boy band SS501, which has been holding its first Asia tour entitled "Persona" since its debut in 2005, will release a mini-album in Korea late this month. Entitled "Rebirth", it's the first album to feature all five members in a year and seven months.

After performing in Korea and Japan in August, SS501 finally visited Taiwan to perform at the Taipei Arena. Kim Hyun-joong, who came down with swine flu in September during his stay in Japan, said his swine flu symptoms included a fever of over 39.5℃, diarrhea six to seven times a day, and coughs of 4-5 times a minute. "It's like the worst degree of a cold. The most difficult part was being isolated. It's a very lonesome disease", said Kim, adding that he was scared to see other swine flu patients who were hospitalized on the same floor with him dying of the disease. Omnibus Drama about Korean Wave Stars to be Produced

An omnibus drama starring some 30 Korean Wave stars, including singer Jun Jin, will be produced. According to the production company Nemo Story on August 17, the cast will include Kim Hyung-joon of SS501, Jun Jin, Son Ho-young, Bae Seul-ki, Shim Eun-jin and Seo Ji-yeong as well as actors Ahn Jae-mo and Lee Tae-seong.

Consisting of 10 episodes, the drama will be produced by 10 renowned Korean directors, such as Kim Hyun-soo of "Highway Star", Kwon Soo-kyeong of "Barefoot Ki-bong", Im Dae-woong of "To Sir, With Love" and Lee Cheol-ha of "Love Me Not". Each director will produce their own version of the drama.

Episode 1, which is entitled "Pricked Grape Prince", will be produced by director Lee Cheol-ha and will star actors Ahn Jae-mo and Ahn Seok-hwan and singer Shim Eun-jin. SS501 Introduces A Capella Song in 2nd Japanese Album

The five members of SS501 are back together to launch their activities in Japan.

Until recently, the members had been busy with their separate activities: Kim Hyun-joong was filming "Boys Over Flowers", Park Jung-min was appearing in the musical "Grease", and Kim Hyung-joon, Kim Gyoo-jong and Heo Yeong-saeng performed under the name "Triple S".

SS501's second Japanese album, which is slated for release on May 13 and entitled "All My Love", shows off a more mature side of the members' vocal skills.

All 13 songs included in the album are performed in Japanese. The new album contains a song that sends a message of hope to a loved one; the ballad "Mermaid", performed by Park Jung-min; the single "Lucky Days", which entered the Oricon weekly chart last year, and "Get Along", which was strongly recommended by the CEO of SS501's agency, DSP Media.

SS501 Upbeat about Dual Hit

The five member male idol group SS501 has scored successes in both music and drama.

The title song of the group's mini album released by only three of the members--Heo Yeong-seang, Kim Hyung-joon, Kim Gyoo-jong--and entitled "U R Man" has ranked as the top "Mutizen Song" in a SBS TV music program, while ranking number one for two weeks on the cable Mnet channel program "M! Countdown".

Member Kim Hyun-joong, who is currently not a member of the band due to his acting career, is also climbing in popularity as the sensational hit KBS 2TV drama "Boys over Flowers" has topped 20% in viewer ratings.

SS501 is particulary happy about the music-drama synergy effect.

SS501 Concert a Success in Japan

The Korean idol group SS501 successfully wrapped up its second concert in Japan.

The group's concerts at the Tokyo International Forum on January 13 and 14 were total sell-outs, heralding the arrival of another star pop group from Korea. With a repertoire totally different from the one featured at a concert held in Seoul late last year, the Japanese performances showcased each member's unique characteristics and talent.

The lead vocalist, Kim Hyun-joong, sang a soulful version of the group's hit single "Never Again" and Kim Hyung-joon performed Usher's "Yeah". Another member, Kim Gyoo-jong, sang "Story", originally by a Japanese female duo.

Park Jung-min followed with his own rendition of Mika Nakashima's "Find the Way". Finally, Heo Yeong-saeng sang Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" in a duet with Korean child actor Park Ji-bin.
