[HanCinema's Drama Review] "The Man In My House" Episode 1 2016/10/24,
Na-ri (played by Soo-ae) is a senior flight attendant for whom life appears to be decent. Sure there's always the occasional jerk on the plane who needs to be dealt with, but Na-ri is a real trooper for her co-workers, even the somewhat ethically dubious Yeo-joo (played by Jo Bo-ah). Na-ri's boyfriend Dong-jin (played by Kim Ji-hoon-I) is clearly committed to her, and Na-ri has a good relationship with her family. Until the timeskip anyway,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Drama Special - Funny Woman" 2015/04/03,
Eun-hee (played by Moon Ji-in) is a woman who dreams of being a comedienne- specifically, she's already working backstage at a national comedy TV program, so for Eun-hee it's really just a matter of finally getting the chance to run a skit out front. In service to this point, Eun-hee ends up making a rather bizarre request to judge Jeong-woo (played by Kim Ji-hoon-I). Jeong-woo hates fun, though, and persists in mocking Eun-hee using his most neutral tone of voice,...More
[HanCinema's Column] Unconventional Korean Dramas 2014/02/01,
Being a movie fan making a jump to dramas can be a daunting experience. The two are very different in many ways. From budget to tropes, from acting to directing, they are worlds apart. While there are genres even Korean films do not often touch, Korean drama is much more limited in its diversity. Sageuk, melodrama, dailies, romantic comedies, the types and formats of series are limited,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Joseon X-Files - Secret Book" 2014/02/01,
Korean science fiction drama. Well there is something you do not see a lot of right there. Science fiction as a genre has really not been attempted much by Korean cinema either and Korean drama is no different with this particular genre. So the fact that a series like 'Joseon X-Files - Secret Book' even exists is a bit of a Dramaland miracle, but the fact that is a mostly well-made and interesting series is an even bigger surprise. The series aired on tvN in 2010 and has two directors and eight writers,...More

SBS Monday and Tuesday TV series "Wish Upon a Star" Scenarist: Jung Ji-woo Producer: Jeong Hyo Cast: Choi Jeong-won, Kim Ji-hoon-I, Sin Dong-wook, Chae Yeong-in Premiere Date: January 4, 2009 at 8:50 P.M.
"A drama which will reveal the new direction SBS dramas will take on in time with the 20th anniversary of the company's establishment", chief producer Kim Young-seob said of TV series "Wish Upon a Star" during a press conference held Monday. And his statement holds true as for the first time, SBS plans to air hour-long dramas back to back on Mondays and Tuesdays starting 8:50 P.M. January 4 next year. This may be why "Wish Upon a Star" has seemingly taken on a relatively safe plot. By now viewers are used to how a poor employee (Jin Bbalgang, played by Choi Jeong-won) who believes life is 'one shot' becomes romantically involved with a cold-hearted lawyer (Min Kang-hoon, played by Kim Ji-hoon-I) after serving as his maid. The story of how Choi has to support her four younger siblings had been added onto the storyline. The plot is easy enough for viewers in and past their middle ages -- hence, it seems the role of "Wish Upon a Star" will be to form ground during a new time slot by recording steady ratings with its somewhat verified story.,...More
