"A Love To Kill" gains popularity from pilot episode

The pilot episode of the new Monday-Tuesday KBS TV2 miniseries "A Love To Kill" (written by Lee Kyeong-hee and produced by Kim Kyoo-tae) kept viewers riveted to their TV screens when it aired yesterday.

According to viewership research firm TNS Media Korea on Nov. 1, the pilot episode of "A Love To Kill" recorded viewer ratings of 16.4 percent on Oct. 31, beating out two other series that aired in the same time slot on two other major channels. The viewership of "A Love To Kill" was 1.2 percentage points higher than that of the SBS series "Seodongyo", which has topped the Monday-Tuesday viewer ratings so far.

The series drew the spotlight even before it premiered on national television for starring the popular singer/actor Rain, who portrays a delinquent K-1 fighter. The series' pilot episode seems to have lived up to viewers' high expectations.

He is a man who has nothing but his own flesh and bone. He is a man to whom women swear to give their lives. He is a combat sports fighter who has never won a single match. He is Gang Bok-gu, the protagonist of the new drama "This Cursed Love" -"A Love To Kill" (Korean title: "Ijugilnomui Sarang"), which will debut on KBS2 at 9:55 p.m. on October 31.

But there is another man behind the role: A man who auditioned a dozen times to become a singer, but was turned down each time because of his looks; A man whose dream was to get an award for best new artist and dedicate it to his mother. That man is Rain, the singer.

He is also Jeong Ji-hoon - "Rain", the actor who plays the ill-fated Gang Bok-gu in "A Love To Kill".

The new drama is written by Lee Kyeong-hi, who wrote one of last season's biggest hits, "Sorry, I Love You", and is directed by rising star Kim Kyoo-tae. Jeong Ji-hoon - "Rain" and Sin Min-ah star as the main love interests.

Teaser of "A Love To Kill" starring Rain creates stir

The new KBS Monday-Tuesday series "A Love To Kill", written by Lee Kyeong-hee and produced by Kim Kyoo-tae, has already drawn significant attention from viewers ahead of its premiere on Oct. 31. The series' leading actor, "Rain" (real name Chung Ji-hoon), said that viewers would be surprised when they see the pilot episode of the drama, and it seems he is absolutely correct.

Immediately after the teaser of "A Love To Kill" aired on Oct. 20 prior to the Wednesday-Thursday series "My Rosy Life", the drama's Web site bulletin board was flooded with messages. It was the second teaser for the new series so far, with the first one airing on Oct. 13.

The 38-second-long teaser caught viewers' eyes by featuring a bruised "Rain", who plays a K-1 fighter in the drama, against the backdrop of a cloudy sky in the heart of a city, and his co-star Sin Min-ah against a clear blue sky at the seashore.
