Yeonriji (The Love Tree ("Now and Forever")), released in Korea yesterday, is a film featuring screen star Choi Ji-woo. The film reminds watchers of the TV drama Winter Sonata that made Choi the hottest Korean star in Japan and gave her the nickname "Jiwoo hime" (princess).

This film's story also involves lovers forced to separate by an incurable disease, and Choi's character resembles to her role in the drama.

Self-cloning is not always a bad thing. Replicating a specific image that was proven successful can be a commercially safe choice. The determining factor for further success is whether the actress can show signs of progress while duplicating the old image. In this regard, the Love Tree ("Now and Forever") is not likely to be remembered as a success in Choi's filmography, though it may jerk tears from some moviegoers. It seems the film features not actress Choi Ji-woo, but star Ji-woo hime.

Choi Ji-woo is one of the most beloved actresses here and in other Asian countries _ especially in Japan where she is affectionately called "Ji-woo Hime", meaning Princess Ji-woo in Japanese.

But would you be willing to pay 7,000 won and sit in a theater for almost two hours watching a cliche love story just because she stars in it?

You may have to ask yourself this question if you want to check out her new movie "Yeonriji, Now and Forever".

Directed by Kim Seong-joong and starring Choi and Jo Han-seon, the movie is a melodrama revolving around a rich, charming man and beautiful woman with a fatal disease.

Min-su (played by Jo) is a playboy. With his attractive looks, money and position as a CEO of a game company, he can easily lure women he likes and simply enjoys casual relationships with them.

Film "Now and Forever" Starring Choi Ji-woo Previewed in Tokyo

A special preview for the film "Now and Forever" starring actress Choi Ji-woo was held at the Tokyo International Forum on Apr. 6.

The event was highlighted by onstage greetings from lead actress Choi and lead actor Jo Han-seon, director Kim Seong-joong, and singer Shin Seung-hun, who sang the film's theme song.

In her greetings to her Japanese fans, Choi said, "I hope you will really enjoy the film. And I also hope that this film will be long remembered in your heart".

As for the film, she said with pride, "I wanted to show my fans a variety of aspects about me through positive and even tough roles that I have never played before, as well as through tear-jerking scenes. I am quite sure that I did a good job doing that".

The lead actor Jo, who played opposite Choi, said, "We really did our best. Please enjoy the film".

A movie, 'Yeonriji' starring Choi Ji-woo arouses great interests from overseas

Overseas buyers and 'hallyu' (Korean Wave) fans are greatly attracted to a movie, 'Yeonriji' starring Choi Ji-woo. (Director: Kim Seong-Joong, Production: Taewon Entertainment-Whitelee Cinema).

With a start of filming on August 3, 'Yeonriji' is a kind of love story between a lovely woman Han Hye-won, who wants to happily live for the rest of her life in the face of death, and a young CEO of game company, Lee Min-soo who was awoke to a truthful love of life for the first time by getting to know Han.

The heroin of the film, Choi Ji-woo, who became popular throughout Asia after starring in the local drama "Winter Sonata", will play Han Hye-won.
