Korean TV dramas, especially the highly popular ones on SBS-TV, keep getting sucked into the quicksand of plagiarism. "War of Money", currently one of the most popular TV dramas, has been accused of plagiarism by novelist Heo Yun-ho, who wrote "The Money War". Heo has filed a complaint in a Seoul court, asking for the TV drama to be taken off the air. Also, "My Man's Woman", which won an audience rating of almost 40 percent, is accused of plagiarizing "That Woman, Ok-hui", a TV drama by Ryoo Kyeong-ok.
"War of Money" is about a loan shark-turned-stock analyst taking revenge against another loan shark who caused his father to commit suicide. Heo, who used to be a stock analyst himself, said that he wrote his book in 2003 and accuses the TV drama of having an almost identical storyline. Meanwhile, "My Man's Woman", is about a man who has an extramarital affair with his wife's best friend. Ryoo said that it is very similar to her work, "That Woman, Ok-hui".

SBS soap "My Man's Woman" is shaping up to be a huge hit. The drama was highly anticipated because it once again teams up writer Kim Soo-hyeon(I) with producer Jeong Eung-yeong, the creative spirits behind hit dramas such as "Men of the Bath House" and "Letter to Parents". The cast is also intriguing, with Kim Hee-ae, the prototype of a good wife and mother, cast as the seductress of her friend's husband and Bae Jong-ok, who usually plays the worldly woman, as the housewife who blindly trusts her adulterous husband and friend.

The soap drew a mere 11.3 percent viewer rating when the first episode was aired on April 2. But since then it has set fresh records with every episode, and the current ratings are the highest among soaps broadcast on Monday and Tuesday. Kim Ho-jin and Kang Seong-yeon, cast in MBC "Shin Hyun Mo Yang Cheo (New Wise Mother, Good Wife)"

Actor Kim Ho-jin and Actress Kang Seong-yeon have been cast in the new MBC drama series 'Shin Hyun Mo Yang Cheo' ("New Wise Mother, Good Wife") as the leading characters.

The drama is a 10 episode series which will start airing on the 28th prior to 'The Legend'. The story will feature episodes about wives that try their best to become 'wise mothers and good wives' but don't always have outcomes as despite their efforts.

Kim Ho-jin will play Heo Myung Pil, an elite newspaper reporter but an immature and irresponsible husband. Kang Seong-yeon will play Gyung Gook Hee, a bright and valiant wife.


Along with the two, Kim Tae-yeon will play Lim Tae Ran who is a successful scenario writer who possesses both fortune and fame, considered an ideal female figure in today's society, and Kim Nam-jin will play the college student Seok Doo who receives the love of many wives.

TV dramas are powerful creatures that can enslave viewers. Unlike a film that ends after two hours, a good TV drama can change your lifestyle by tying you up for an hour every week for several months. Knowing what kind of TV drama or series is popular in a given country can be an effective glimpse inside its psyche. The stature of certain script writers is also a good indicator of a society's direction.

Kim starring in the SBS drama "My Man's Woman" as Lee Hwa-young, a woman who doesn't feel guilty even after stealing a friend's husband, is no longer the person she used to be. Kim has always played the character of a married woman who loses her husband to another woman in dramas such as "Precious Family" and Snow Flower". However, her character in the new drama is quite the opposite. "My eyes are beginning to resemble those of Hwa-young which are filled with love and jealousy", Kim said on Wednesday during an interview.

"The life of Kim Ji-soo in the drama and that of mine are very similar. Sometimes I have to be pretentious to be a good wife or an exemplary mother. I get vicarious satisfaction while playing Hwa-young which allows me to break the mold", Kim added.
