Fashion Designer Andre Kim to Hold Fashion Show Series

Fashion designer Andre Kim will hold a series of benefit fashion shows, including one at the Deoksugung Palace in Seoul and at Cheongnamdae in Cheongwon, North Chungcheong province.

The designer announced on May 11 that he will hold a fashion show on May 26 at Cheongnamdae, a former country villa for Korean presidents, and invite the foreign diplomatic circle.

Organized by UNICEF Korea, the benefit fashion show will feature foreign diplomatic personnel, other dignitaries and celebrities on the runway donning Kim's elaborate collection.

Actor Ko Rescues Wounded Golfer

Actor Ko Joo-won, appearing in the historical drama 'King and I', transported a stranger injured in a car accident to the hospital.

Driving through heavy rain Wednesday evening on the Joongbu Highway, Ko saw a car ahead of him suddenly lose traction and crash to the shoulder.

The actor was returning to Seoul from Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang province where he had a shoot.

He immediately stopped his van and ran over to the victim. The car was nearly crushed but the female driver had no apparent injuries. Despite his filming schedule, Ko drove her to the nearby Konkuk University Hospital in Chungju in his van.

An official at his management agency said, "Ko was worried that the victim might be severely wounded. He drove her to the hospital and called her parents at which time he found out that she was a pro golfer. Wishing her a quick recovery, he left for his film set".

The blockbuster film "D-War" topped the nation's No. 1 search engine Naver's most searched keyword list again last week, showing that people are still interested in the monster movie 26 days after its release.

The movie has drawn more than seven million people to cinemas nationwide.

A heated debate has arisen over the film as many analysts said that it overemphasized patriotism, and that director Shim Hyung-rae's pride in the domestically produced computer graphics is overdone. The fans have defended the movie and its director.

The largest opposition Grand National Party's nomination race was the hot potato of the week. Former Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak was declared the party's presidential nominee Monday.

Lee garnered 81,084 of the total 180,947 in turnout _ 130,898 in party vote and 50,049 in popular vote _ 2,452 ballots more than the 78,032 earned by his rival and former party chairwoman Park Geun-hye.
