"Pasta" - Final episode (MBC TV, 9:55 PM)
"This wraps up our work today", said Hyun-wook (played by Lee Seon-gyoon) disappointedly after sending out the last dish ordered by himself. But he did so while gazing warmly at the chefs who had won the New Chef Competition and would be leaving to study abroad. Half of La Sfera's kitchen would soon be filled with female chefs. A chapter at Hyun-wook's kitchen, where all the conflicts had originated, had come to an end. It was a kind of goodbye that befitted "Pasta" as the show had consistently stuck to the world of kitchen which at times seemed ordinary yet otherworldly at others. Unlike dramas which usually focus on the conflicts throughout its run and set forth a dramatic reconciliation or dissolution at the ending, "Pasta" was able to provide viewers with an ending scene where, although all employees would hold a farewell party together, would not feel boring nor cliche....More

By Wee Geun-woo
Like many television dramas about working professionals, MBC TV series "Pasta", which features an Italian food chef, is ultimately about romance in the kitchen. Even though the uptight chef Hyun-wook (played by Lee Seon-gyoon) proclaims, "There will be no women in my kitchen", he will make Yu-kyung (Kong Hyo-jin) fall for him by becoming her mentor in times of crisis and Yu-kyung will not hesitate to express her emotions to him. What makes their predictable story interesting is that the kitchen -- where the two play mind games with each other -- is not just a physical setting for the show but also where their public and social relationships exist. So to describe the show accurately, "Pasta" is a story which talks about the difficulties of handling romance in the kitchen....More
