'You Are My Destiny', a brand new drama series on KBS 1TV has kicked off to a great start.

According to AGB Nielsen Media research, 'You Are My Destiny', which debuted on May 5 after the previous drama series 'Likeable or Not' ended, recorded 24.8 % nationwide viewer ratings. The viewer ratings in the Seoul area alone were 29.1%.

KBS explained that the viewer ratings of the new drama series is in the same range as 'Likeable or Not' on its debut date. 'Likeable or Not' maintained a stable viewer rating of 35.4% throughout the past eight months, topping the list of the most successful drama series on KBS 1TV since 2000.

Yoona, a member of the popular female vocal group Girls' Generation, stars in 'You Are My Destiny' as the heroine who finds herself happily adjusting to a new family after a life-changing corneal transplant surgery. Park Jae-jeong, Lee Ji-hoon, Kong Hyeon-joo, Lee Pil-mo and Kim Jeong-nan are the co-stars of the new drama series.

Singer Kang Ta (29) officially began his military duties on April 1 in Euijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.

Kang Ta held a farewell concert for his fans at the Main Hall of Yonsei University late last month. The day he was stationed at his military base, Kang Ta, showing off a short crew cut, said goodbye to his fans and said he will diligently fulfill his military duties.

Korean fans as well as Japanese, Chinese and Thai fans flocked to the military base to say goodbye to their favorite singer. Fellow members of group S, Shin Hye-sung and Lee Ji-hoon, as well as singer Kim Min-jong, also a member of SM Entertainment, were on hand to wish good luck to their friend.

Kang Ta is the third member of H.O.T--after Moon Hee-joon and Jang Woo-hyuk--to begin his military duty.

The year 2007 was one of hit medical dramas like "White Tower" (MBC) and "Surgeon Bong Dal-hee" (SBS). Yet another medical drama, "New Heart", now brings the hospital back to the TV screens.

Director Park Hong-gyoon, who previously directed the hit drama "The Age of Heroes" (2004) and "So In Love" (2006), admitted some unease about adding another medical series to the list, but that he was taking slightly different approach, during a press conference Tuesday at a hospital in Seoul.

"While `Behind the White Tower' is about hospital politics and `Surgeon Bong Dal-hee' traces the emotional and professional growth of young doctors, `New Heart' will mainly focus on the medical field", he said. Park added that they avoided using the tripod in order to fully capture the realism of the surgery and characters in action.

Actor and singer Lee Ji-hoon will return as a singer after three and a half years with a new album in September. He has been appearing in movies and drama series after his 5th album in April of 2004.

Lee Ji-hoon says, "The recording schedule has been overlapping with filming but I have been recording in between schedules and quite an amount has been finished. It is my first album in three and a half years so I am very careful. I will most likely be able to release a new album in September".

Lee Ji-hoon recently appeared as a guest during Shin Hye Sung's first solo concert tour and displayed his unchanged singing talent. He also joined the tour in Osaka (27th) and Nagoya (29th) along with the two Seoul shows on the 11th and 12th.
