A violent attack on popular TV entertainer No Hong-chul just two months after actress Lee Seung-shin was assaulted by a stalker has again struck fear in Korea's entertainment industry.

Police said that a man identified only by his surname Kim waited for No in front of No's apartment in Apgujeong, Seoul on Tuesday night and beat him when the entertainer returned home.

No suffered a cut to his left ear and a bruise on his face. He is now receiving treatment at a hospital in Seoul.

The attacker was arrested on the scene after a neighbor who witnessed the assault called the police. The attacker reportedly was carrying a knife in the pocket of his jacket.

Police said that the attacker told them that he recently had to quit his job because of mental illness, but they are still questioning him to discern his motive.

Attacks on entertainers are not uncommon in Korea. Entertainers can be easily targeted due to the nature of their job and they can hardly protect their privacy from...

Six twenty-something characters are invited for a party by their elementary school classmate Mi-ja (Seo Young-hee, the neurotic landlady from "Jealousy is My Middle Name"), who has been caring for her former teacher Ms. Park (Oh Mi-hee), now infirm and wheelchair-bound. The guests turn out to be a motley crew of losers and basket cases, however.

Worse, each of them bears a serious grudge against Ms. Park. Sun-hee (Lee Ji-hyeon, Yeo Gyoon-dong's "La Belle"), traumatized by the teacher's public taunting of her baby fat, has become addicted to plastic surgery and suffers from bulimia. The four-woman group Jewelry will come back with its fifth album next year after finding two new members to replace those who have left the band.

Starempire Entertainment, the group's agency, said Thursday in its telephone interview with MyDaily that it will reorganize the group with two new members and that the group will not be disbanded.

"Jo Min-ah informed us a while ago that she will leave the group. We will select two people among candidates we are training now and release a new album next year", it said.

The company conducted an international audition to find a new member after Lee Ji-hyeon left the group in January to become an actress and is now training those they selected at the audition.

"We will select two of them to join the group", a company source said. "But the group's new album will be released in April or May next year because we plan to release a solo album for Seo In-young".

Just two decades ago, it was rare for movie fans to see actresses do nude scenes because of strict censorship and most stars were hesitant about undressing for the camera.

But as the domestic moviemaking trend took an innovative turn towards liberal expression, nude scenes no longer made much news. And interestingly, baring all turned into an effective strategy for actresses to prove their acting skills, commitment and passion for acting.

"I think of nude scenes as a crucial passage to become a real actress", said actress Eom Ji-won after shooting director Hong Sang-soo's "Tale of Cinema". "After stripping in front of the camera, I felt that I could now take any role".

Even veteran actresses with over 10 years experience have chosen to shoot nude scenes to reach a higher level of acting.

Top actresses Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Hye-soo each gained new perspectives in "Happy End" and "Hypnotized", respectively.
