Japanese Prime Minister-elect Yukio Hatoyama has met with Korean actor Lee Seo-jin at his office in Tokyo. Mr. Hatoyama's wife, who is a fan of Korean culture, also welcomed the actor.
Lee is visiting Japan to promote his epic drama "Yi San", which is airing in Japan on NHK TV's satellite channel. His meeting with the prime minister-elect was organized by the Japanese PR company Color Pink Japan. According to the company's CEO, the prime minister-elect said he wanted to conduct politics like King Jeongjo, who Lee plays in the drama, and that he will take cues for his policies from "Yi San". He also added that he has much to learn from King Jeongjo. King Jeongjo (1776-1800), the 22nd king of the Joseon Dynasty, based his policies on the need for grassroots movements and implemented reforms. Staff Reporter Incoming Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, known as being a fan of "hallyu", or the Korean cultural wave, met Korean actor Lee Seo-jin in Tokyo Monday. Lee was on a tour to promote his TV drama "Yi San". During the meeting at the incoming Prime Minister's office, Lee reportedly said that he hoped that the two countries would boost cultural exchanges. The incoming Prime Minister's wife Miyuki Hatoyama was also present. A Japanese PR agency Color Pink Japan arranged the meeting to promote "Yi San", which recounts the high-flying life and times of Yi San (played by Lee) or King Jeongjo (1752-1800), the 22nd king of the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910). Staff Reporters Local broadcasters and the movie industry are preparing to help viewers kill the summer heat with horror programs and movies this month. Here is some of what's being offered. Small Screen MBC, which has had a successful history of horror dramas, including "M - Drama", starring popular actress Shim Eun-ha in 1994, hopes to reprise that success with the drama " Possessed". "'Possessed' ('HON - Soul') is not based on `Korean Ghost Stories' nor is it a part of the movie series `Whispering Corridors'. Actor Lee Seo-jin, 35, and actress Kim Jeong-eun, 32, were a one-of-a-kind pair, but it looks like fans won't see them wearing couple outfits anymore. And the reasons are not yet apparent.
Kim says Lee broke off the relationship, which had lasted for almost two years. The two started going out after starring together in the SBS TV soap, "Lovers", in 2006. While Kim has publicly revealed her emotions, Lee is keeping quiet. "It takes time to heal a physical wound", Kim said last Saturday while recording SBS TV's "Kim Jeong-eun's Chocolate", a music program she hosts. "Likewise, it's going to take a while to heal my heart, too", she added. While immersed in deep depression, Kim also said that although she would like to run off somewhere, she has to work.
