Actor Kim Myeong-min attended a fan meeting event in Japan for the first time.

Kim's management company K&Entertainment said the actor attended the fan meeting at the Nagano Sun Plaza in Tokyo on April 20. The fan meeting was organized to celebrate the official release of the DVD of "White Tower", a popular drama series in which Kim starred. Kim was accompanied by actor Lee Seon-gyoon, among others.

Prior to the fan meeting, Kim held a press conference with Japanese reporters. After the fan meeting, the actor personally shook hands with his fans who attended the event.

"White Tower" is a popular Japanese drama series which was aired in Japan in 1978 and 2003. The drama was remade into a Korean version last year and became a big hit. Kim appeared in the drama as cool-headed surgeon Jang Jun-hyuk.

In the meantime, Kim has been cast in the brand new drama series on MBC TV "Beethoven Virus". He will take on the role of orchestra maestro Kang Gun-woo alongside new actress Lee Ji...

European and Asian buyers closed deals on several Korean films' rights at the Berlin Film festival's market. JEON Ji-hyeon's star power in Asia resulted in "A Man Who Was Superman" being sold to Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Thailand (J-Bics), and Singapore (Festive Films) by CJ Entertainment. The human interest drama was directed by JEONG Yoon-cheol and stars HWANG Jeong-min as a traumatised man.

German Splendid pre-bought the rights for "The Divine Weapon" and "Fate". CJ Entertainment also sold "Open City" and "Our Town" to Splendid.

"Fate" is an action noir starring Korean star KWON Sang-woo and SONG Seung-heon. KIM Hae-gon directs the story about friends who turn to crime.

The historical drama "The Divine Weapon" stars JEONG Jae-yeong and is about the invention of an advanced weapon to defend a former Korean dynasty. Acclaimed director HONG Sang-soo will return to the Berlin International Film Festival with his eighth film "Night and Day", which screens in the festival's competition section. This will be the first time that a film by HONG competes at Berlin, after his previous works "Woman is the Future of Man" (2004) and "Tale of Cinema" (2005) competed at Cannes.
