1st DMZ Documentary Film Festival Opened

The DMZ Documentary Film Festival - the first of its kind in Korea - will open in Paju Book City on October 22.

The opening ceremony for this event will be held on the outdoor stage, in front of Ichae Shopping Mall, with participation of celebrities including Park Ye-jin, Bae Soo-bin, Lee Yeong-ja, Jang Hyeon-seong, Kim Ji-soo, Kim Young-cheol, Yoon Kye-sang, Cha Soo-yeon, and Choo Sang-mi and her husband. The event is emceed by Kim Je-dong.

Yoon Do-hyeon, the festival's PR ambassador; actress Lee In-hye; and 4th-grade student Kim Gwan-yoo, who lives in Daeseongdong Village, located inside the DMZ, will also attend the opening ceremony. Gangsane Band will perform a live set in honor of this occasion, as well.
Produced by the martial arts director Jeong Doo-hong, who is also a member of the Festival Organizing Committee, White Wild Goose is performed by ballerina Yang Inko only for this festival.

Choi Jin-sil's Ashes Stolen

It has been three days since the ashes of the late actress Choi Jin-sil were stolen. The late actress's mother is staying at Choi's younger brother's house in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul and praying for the safe return of the ashes.

Choi's mother was on the verge of fainting several times since she learned about the disappearance of the ashes on August 15. On August 16 she attended church to pray.

A person from Choi's former agency, who visited the graveyard along with Choi's family, said the bereaved family had been waiting anxiously for a call from police and praying because that it was all they could do. He said, "Like the actress's mother said on August 15, the most important thing at this point is the safe return of the ashes. The family is worried that even the jar containing the ashes could be damaged".

Actress Choi Jin-sil Mourned 49 Days after Death

Forth-nine days have passed since noted actress Choi Jin-sil took her own life. In the 49th-day tribute for this ill-fated actress, her close friends and family members have gathered at her grave site to remember her life. The ceremony was held in the morning of November 19th at the Gapsan Cemetery in Yangsuri, Gyeonggi Province with Choi's mother and brother (actor/singer Choi Jin-young), and her closest friends comedienne Lee Yeong-ja and actress Sin-ae.

Notably absent was Choi's ex-husband and former baseball star Cho Sung-min, who's currently embroiled in a controversial custody battle with Choi's family. He was seen at the cemetery on November 18th, the day before the 49th day ceremony, to avoid media attention and an encounter with Choi's family and friends.

Choi Hwa-jeong, Uhm Jung-hwa, Lee Yeong-ha, and Sin-ae are still in grief and mourning that they could not make it to work even after a week since Choi Jin-sil's death.

Final farewells were made at the funeral for Choi Jin-sil on the 4th.

The funeral procession was help from the hospital to the park where the cremated remains of Choi is buried.
