3 New Weekend Dramas to Air

All three major television networks will start new weekend dramas for the entire family in February.

KBS will air "Mom's Dead Upset", which deals with four-generations living together and the various incidents resulting from generation gaps. MBC will air "A Beauty Unmatched, Park Jeong-geum", about a divorced single mom, while SBS will air "I Am Happy", about a happily married couple.

The first episode of "Mom's Dead Upset" will air at 7:55 p.m., Feb. 2. Written by Kim Su-hyun, the hit maker who wrote for dramas such as "My Man's Woman" (SBS, 2007), "Love and Ambition" (SBS, 2006) and "Trap of Youth" (SBS, 1999), the drama's expectations are high.

The drama features powerful actors and actresses. Jeon In-wha: Back on the Big Screen at 42

The 30s are usually an actress' heyday, but what about the 40s? At 42, Jeon In-hwa is still graceful and elegant, but her comeback after a five-year absence may only be temporary.

At the premiere of a short film entitled "Aega" ("Love Song") at Megabox Sinchon recently, Jeon appeared alongside the young actor Lee Dong-geon and actress Lee Yoo-ri. The 30-minute film about a love triangle involving Jeon's part, her loving younger sister and her sister's boyfriend, Jeon is on top form. It was a friend who persuaded her to appear in the movie.

The film is a kind of extended music video for the singer Position, who also returned to work after long absence, just like Jeon. She says she decided to appear in it because it is directed by top commercial film and music video producer Cha Eun-taek.

The Korea Broadcasting System's weekend drama "Letters to Parents" (written by Kim Soo-hyun and directed by Jeong Eul-yeong), which gripped the hearts of audience members and recorded more than a 30 percent share of viewers, marked its finale yesterday.

Since first airing on October 16 last year without putting up any arousing subjects and settings, the drama got comments that it helped viewers realize the importance of family and humane warmth by simply showing trivial happenings occurring in Vice Principal Ahn's family, composed of Ahn', his wife, and his four sons and daughters. Lee Yoo-ri Poised to Emerge as Next-Generation 'Hallyu' Star

Actress Lee Yoo-ri is on the verge of emerging as the newest "hallyu" star in China. According to Lee's agency on May 10, Lee recently held talks with the Chinese movie and drama production company "Great Star Film Group", which offered its promotional services in China to the Korean actress.

Great Star Film Group also offered Lee the lead role in a movie starring Andy Lau, a top actor in the Chinese-speaking region. Lee's agency said the Chinese company will take charge of Lee's promotional activities in China to nurture her into a next-generation "hallyu" star.
