 The Korean film "Little Brother" ("Hello Brother") directed by Lim Tae-hyeong has won the top prize at an international children's film festival held in Germany. The film's producer, MK Pictures, said Monday that "Little Brother" shared the Lucas Award with the German film "Paula's Secret" at the Lucas International Children's Film Festival which ran from Sept. 24 until Oct. 1.
Among 13 feature and eight short films in the competition category, Lim's work was recognized for maintaining its humor and not becoming sentimental despite its serious topic. A total of 123 films were submitted to the festival.
Based on a true story, "Little Brother" ("Hello Brother") deals with the life of a boy diagnosed with cancer and the boy's little brother. Park Ji-bin, who played the little brother, won the Silver Iris Award for Best Actor at the New Montreal Filmfest in Canada in September.

According to Kim Ji-suk, a programmer of the Pusan International Film Festival, on Jan. 30, film director Lim Tae-hyeong, who directed the film "Hello Brother" (2005), won the best director award in the "Spiritual Cinema" division of the 24th Fajr International Film Festival which ended in Teheran, Iran on Jan. 30.
"Hello Brother" portrays a touching story about a nine-year-old boy "Janghani" (played by Park Ji-bin) who tries to save his older brother who is suffering from cancer. Park won the "Silver Iris for Best Actor Award" at the first New Montreal Filmfest held in Canada in September of last year for his acting in this film.
Meanwhile, other South Korean films failed to win awards at the Iranian film festival. The 10-year-old Park won the award for his performance in "Little Brother (Annyong Hyonga)" - "Hello Brother" by director Lim Tae-hyeong. He is the youngest Korean to win a prize at an international film festival.
Park did not take part in the event due to his busy filming and school schedules. But according to Yonhap News Agency, when told of the award, he said, "I don't know what the prize is but it sounds exciting. Can I go there right now?"
