Actor Ji Jin-hee, who recently stared in the action film 'Soo' (directed by Choi Yang-il and produced by Triz Club), will visit Japan in the coming days.

'Soo' is Korean-Japanese director Choi Yang-il's first Korean film. He was noted for 'Blood and Bones', which won numerous awards in Japan.

The film features star actors such as Ji Jin-hee, Kang Seong-yeon and Moon Seong-geun. The film is currently being screened at the 'Hallyu Cinema Festival 2008 Spring' in Tokyo, to be held until the end of May.

Ji will attend the 'Ji Jin-hee Special Talk Event 2008' in Tokyo on April 5 to promote the film, and greet Japanese audiences on April 6 during the special screening of the film....

Acclaimed actor MOON Seong-geun will take the lead role in "Sahwa" (meaning 'Royal Massacre') a horror from Cannes winning director SONG Il-gon. MOON has been a notable figure in the Korean film industry since the 1990's, when he starred in films by top new wave directors, PARK Kwang-soo ("Black Republic"), JANG Sun-woo ("Road to the Racetrack"), and in LEE Chang-dong's debut film "Green Fish".

MOON also provided memorable performances in such films as HONG Sang-soo's "Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors" and PARK Chan-ok's "Jealousy is My Middle Name". He came late to his acting career, having first spent time as a business man in Saudi Arabia. Throughout the 90's he was deeply involved in supporting the Korean film industry and served as Vice-chairman of the Korean Film Council in 1999.

In 2004 Seoul's Daehangno (a hub for the theater arts in Korea) was a bundle of energy with the introduction of "Yeongeukyeolgeon" or "A Hot War of Plays", a theatrical festival that featured beloved Korean productions from the 1980s including "Cheongchunyechan" or "Glorious Youth" and "Guangaekmodok" or "Blasphemy on the Audience" It was as if there was a renaissance in Korean theater.
It didn't last. The festival disappeared, lingering only as a legendary event in the memory of its participants.
However, it seems as though a new era has begun in Daehangno, now that actor Jo Jae-hyeon (known for his roles in films like "Hanbando" or "The Han Peninsula", as well as plays and television dramas), stands at the center of a 2008 revival of Yeongeukyeolgeon. For Moon Seong-geun, an accomplished movie actor and now influential figure in the country's entertainment industry, the theater was the place where he learned the life of an actor and demonstrated his talents to the public for the first time. Although he was away from the theater, busy building his career both on the small and big screen, as well as continuing his controversial political activities in recent years, he is now making a big U-turn. It's bloody and brutal, and harrowingly so. Japanese-born Korean director Choi Yang-il (Yoichi Sai) brings the Korean audience a hardboiled vengeance film with a slightly different flavor.

When you think of blood-splattered retaliation, Park Chan-wook's vengeance trilogy or Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" series may come to mind. But imagine such a film stripped of fancy cinematographic techniques and devoid of stylishly choreographed action sequences. Every gesture and grimace is meticulously planned, according to the director. But Choi keeps the camera at a certain distance to portray the no-cut skirmishes. The product is heightened realism, and you believe in the brutal violence and the raw human instinct for survival.
