Park Chan-wook is the brother of Park Chan-kyong
Born in 1963, and is one of the most significant talents of new Korean cinema. He studied philosophy at Sogang University, where he founded a film club and developed a strong interest in film theory and criticism. He became KWAK Jae-yong’s first assistant director, and in 1992, he made his feature film debut "The Moon is the Sun’s Dream". Starting with "Joint Security Area" and going on to "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance", "Old Boy", "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", and "I’m a Cyborg, but That’s OK", he brought the Korean viewers to expect ‘well-made films’ and made the audience rave all the more by presenting new styles. Having pride in going back and forth between different genres and in his unique directing sense, PARK has become a world renowned director.
