Actress Han Ji-hye Debuts as Singer

Actress Han Ji-hye of the "East of Eden" fame will make her debut as a solo singer. Her digital single will be released on online music sites on Monday, May 18. The song "Luv Luv" will be featured as part of the OST for a cable TV program about Han's attempt at becoming a shoe designer.

On her first appearance as a singer, Han says that she is very nervous, but welcomes the challenge. She also says that recording the song was a great experience and that her song would make people happy.

She has impressed the audience and TV critics with her sensitive portrayal of Ji-hyun, a girl who loves Dong-wook (played by Yeon Jeong-hoon) but marries Myung-hoon (played by Park hae-jin), in TV drama "East of Eden". After successfully wrapping up the show earlier this year, she has signed up for a cable TV reality show that tracks her attempts to become a shoe designer. Korean Drama OST Concert to Be Staged in Japan

The "Korean Wave Gala Concert 2009" will be held at the Tokyo International Forum on July 11.

The concert will feature Korean singers who took part in the original soundtracks of Korean dramas which have been popular in Japan. They include Ryu, who sang the theme song of "Winter Sonata", Zero of "Beautiful Days", July of "Stairway to Heaven", and Hong Jong-myung of "Beautiful Lady" and "Happy Together" (starring Lee Byeong-heon).

Park Hae-jin Goes to Africa for Goodwill Work

Actor Park Hae-jin, currently starring in MBC big-budget drama "East of Eden", will travel to Africa for goodwill work. Together with the members of the Korea Food for the Hungry International, an international Christian NGO in support of poverty relief, Park will visit Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivore in West Africa from March 9th through 16th to take part in the medical volunteer program and meet with sponsored children.

Joining the trip will be Park's co-star in "East of Eden", Jo Min-ki. Cho plays the ruthless father of Park's character on the show. A longtime sponsor of African children, Jo had suggested that Park join him in the charity work, for Park was looking for ways to help out the less fortunate. Although not completely recovered from the shooting of "East of Eden", Park gladly took up the offer and leaves for Africa to actually administer medical services and Jo's sponsor children. ...| More
