[Guest Film Review] "A Family" 2016/07/02, Melodrama has always been one of the most popular genres in S. Korea, although, in the last decades, due to the ascent of crime thriller, joseon, romance, and other genres, the category is considered somewhat preterit. "A Family" manages to cover this gap in quality by modernizing the genre and by adding elements of other genres,...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "Little Brother" + DVD Giveaway 2016/02/13,
Han-i (played by Park Ji-bin) is the annoHan-ing younger brother to Han-byeol (played by Seo Dae-han). They live in typical sibling conflict, such that when Han-byeol expresses discomfort and apparent sickness, Han-i is dismissive and just decides to play video games rather than do anything useful. Unfortunately for the brothers and their parents, Han-byeol really is very sick. From there "Little Brother" quickly turns into a waiting game to see whether or not Han-byeol will die,...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "Ice Bar" 2013/02/01,
Fifty years ago South Korea was, by any metric, a third world country ranking near the bottom of the scale in every appreciable metric. And yet even here, there's a sweet wafting nostalgia when it comes to childhood experiences. Like having a mother whose employment depends on illegal enterprises, living in a dingy town with little hope of economic opportunity, and being so hard up for food that the high-grade stuff like eggs are delicious even when covered in dirt,...More

SBS Monday and Tuesday TV series "Wish Upon a Star" Scenarist: Jung Ji-woo Producer: Jeong Hyo Cast: Choi Jung-won, Kim Ji-hoon-I, Sin Dong-wook, Chae Yeong-in Premiere Date: January 4, 2009 at 8:50 P.M.
"A drama which will reveal the new direction SBS dramas will take on in time with the 20th anniversary of the company's establishment", chief producer Kim Young-seob said of TV series "Wish Upon a Star" during a press conference held Monday. And his statement holds true as for the first time, SBS plans to air hour-long dramas back to back on Mondays and Tuesdays starting 8:50 P.M. January 4 next year. This may be why "Wish Upon a Star" has seemingly taken on a relatively safe plot. By now viewers are used to how a poor employee (Jin Bbalgang, played by Choi Jung-won) who believes life is 'one shot' becomes romantically involved with a cold-hearted lawyer (Min Kang-hoon, played by Kim Ji-hoon-I) after serving as his maid. The story of how Choi has to support her four younger siblings had been added onto the storyline. The plot is easy enough for viewers in and past their middle ages -- hence, it seems the role of "Wish Upon a Star" will be to form ground during a new time slot by recording steady ratings with its somewhat verified story.,...More
