Kim Beom's Movie Picks

| Source | 2010/02/08 | 0 comments | Permalink Share Buzz

Actor Kim Beom [Chae Ki-won/10Asia]

Kim Beom has grown as an actor everytime we see him. The young boy that first appeared in 2006 TV series "Rude Women" as a child who takes good care of his single mom, made himself known to the public through MBC sitcom "High Kick!" and made his presence more prominent through just a few series of appearances in the beginning of "East of Eden" playing the child part of Hallyu star Song Seung-heon. It became certain last year that he had secured a position on the small screen when he made the hearts of many female viewers flutter through KBS drama "Boys over Flowers".

Kim then showed how he had finally become a 'man' and one that is ready to play a lead role through SBS TV series "Dream - Drama". "Expressing a character is similar to trying on different clothes. The characters I played in 'Boys over Flowers' or 'Dream - Drama' were articles of clothing I tried on as a hanger or mannequin. They may not fit me initially since they may be too long or short but there comes a point when it fits you just right after some adjustment. That is when you look at yourself in the mirror and start being evaluated by others too for how you look in that item of clothing. Taking on a new role is like adding a new piece of clothing to your wardrobe so I must say that I'm very eager when it comes to work"....More

Kim Myeong-min and Ha Ji-won, who starred as a married couple in Park Jin-pyo's tearjerker "Closer to Heaven", were named Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, at the Blue Dragon Awards, Wednesday evening, in Yeouido, Seoul.

"I'm not sure if I deserve this award. I am thankful, though, as I have to try twice as hard because of my less-than-perfect acting abilities", said Kim, who had previously made headlines for shedding 20 kilograms to play a terminally ill patient. Ever since his breakthrough role in the TV drama "Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-shin", he has been sweeping various Best Actor awards for characters he played on both the big and small screen.

Another stab at big-screen success

TV star Kim Myeong-min hopes to make waves in the film world.
Actor Kim Myeong-min is returning to the big screen. And this time he hopes to make a larger splash than his last effort, the 2008 crime film "Open City", which had an average showing at the box office.

Kim actually made a name for himself - and gained legions of fans - for his recent work as a coldhearted doctor in the TV series "The Great White Tower" and as an aggressive conductor in the program "Beethoven Virus".

Now, he is again looking to gain a foothold in the movie world, taking on an extremely challenging role as Jong-woo - a Lou Gehrig's patient - in the upcoming film "...More

Director Park Jin-pyo had moviegoers reaching for the Kleenex in the romantic tearjerker "You are my Sunshine", in which love prevails over AIDS, and the family drama "Voice of Murderer", in which a couple does not give up hope for their kidnapped child.

In his latest feature, "Closer to Heaven", he aims to mix heartbreaking melodrama with sympathy-provoking family bonds, buttressed by crowd-pleasing insurances ― charismatic screen personality Kim Myeong-min shedding 20 kilograms to portray a dying man and unfailing actress Ha Ji-won sticking by his side as his devoted, doting wife.

Kim Myeong-min Struggles after Losing 20 kg

| Source | 2009/08/27 | 0 comments | Permalink Share Buzz

"I needed to focus more on portraying feelings in the latter part of the movie, but I was unable to concentrate on acting because I was exhausted".

Actor Kim Myeong-min, who plays a patient suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease in the movie "Closer to Heaven", has lost 20 kg for his role. At the movie production briefing on August 24, Kim said it was understood that he had to starve in order to play this role.
