Top Celebrities Join Hands to Help Starving Children of N.Korea

The Korea Entertainment Producers' Association recently announced it will produce a project album entitled "Cry With Us" to help the starving children of North Korea.

Top Korean singers, including Insooni, Park Sang-min, Byeon Jin-seop, Kim Hyun-jung, Koyote, Glass Case, Jewelry, Lee Ji-hoon, Lee Jung-hyun and Mighty Mouse, actors Cha In-pyo and Sin Ae-ra as well as North Korean TV personality Jeon Cheol-woo are taking part in the project. The celebrities gathered at the Booming Studio in Daechi-dong, Seoul for the press conference and recorded the song.

The association said the project aims to give aid to the starving children of the North as well as to give them a message of hope.

The lyrics of the song stress that people of the South and North Korea are one and promote the message of sharing. All the proceeds from album sales will be used to help North Korean children....| More

"Portrait of a Beauty", an upcoming romantic film about gifted artists during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) started its 10-day shoot in Andong, North Gyeongsang, a city is known for its historic scenery.

The movie is based on the true-life story of the artist Shin Yun-bok, whose paintings satirized yangban, or noblemen, during the latter half of the 18th century.

The film sees Shin (Kim Min-seon) dress as a man, since female artists in those days had to battle male chauvinism. Shin's teacher, Kim Hong-do (Kim Yeong-ho), provides the love interest.


Album sales to support starving North Korean kids

Actor Cha In-pyo and some 40 popular singers including In Soon-e and Park Sang-min will record a joint album, "Cry with Us", to help raise money for North Korean children.

The shortage of food in North Korea is an on-going global issue and all proceeds from album sales will go to help relieve the crisis, according to Korea Entertainment Producer's Association on Monday.

Up-and-Comer Oh Yeon-seo Dazzles in Epic Period Drama

Rising talent Oh Yeon-seo is the new face of KBS 2TV's epic drama, "The Great King Sejong".

In the TV drama, Oh plays "Eo-ri", the most beautiful woman in Chosun who captures the heart of "Prince Yangnyeong" (Park Sang-min). Her strong performance adds an exciting edge to the production.

The young actress has also become a rising face in the advertising industry. According to sources at her agency Star M Entertainment, Oh has been cast in five commercials just this year alone, for Shinhan Credit Card, Will Yoghurt and Hanbul Cosmetics, among others.

The addition of Oh and singer Lee Jeong-hyeon signal a turn of events in the epic tale of "The Great King Sejong".

Eo-ri first approaches Yangnyeong in an attempt to seduce him to stir up the royal family, but she falls in love with the prince's frank, open-hearted personality. Models Pick Ryoo as Korean Wave Star

Actor Ryoo Si-won has been selected as the Korean Wave star chosen by models.

He will receive the prize at the 2006 Korea Model Festival Award on Friday evening at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Seoul. The event is being hosted by the Korea Model Association.

Three thousand Korean male and female models chose the honorees, including Ryoo, through votes.

The 'international exchange' award went to Japanese actress Aoi Miyazaki, and Korean actor Lee Jun-ki received the special Korean Wave award. The meritorious Korean Wave honor went to producer Yoon Seok-ho of the hit drama series "Winter Sonata".

Screen stars Jeong Joon-ho and Son Ye-jin were chosen as the best model-turned-actors for TV commercials, and Kim Sung-soo and Lee Seon-jin were recognized in the fashion model category. Actors Cheon Jeong-myeong, Kim Ah-joong and singers Park Sang-min, Bada and Son Ho-young received the popularity prize.
