Kim Tae-hee, Han Ye-seul and Choi Kang-hee enjoy similarly enviable public recognition as attractive actresses. But they are going through a similarly gloomy Christmas holiday.

The three actresses are now competing at the box office, jockeying for a position in the usually crowded year-end holiday season. But their films are struggling to gain a foothold in terms of ticket sales.

Kim Tae-hee, who plays a tough housewife clashing with her husband in Han Ji-seung's latest comic drama "Venus and Mars" (Ssaum), is dealing with the second lackluster public reception in as many big-screen attempts. Last year, she joined the 10 billion won ($10.6 million) film project "The Restless", which tanked at the box office with a mere 1 million tickets sold.

Released on Dec. 12, "Venus and Mars" sold about 320,000 tickets in two weeks. The film had drawn keen interest as director Han, a leading filmmaker known for his sophisticated style, has taken the helm, and equally famous actor Seol Kyeo...

In "Miss Gold Digger" ("Yonguijudo Miss Shin"), Han Ye-seul dominates the running time -- for 98 percent, to be exact -- as a likable beauty who compares and contrasts four different potential Mr. Rights.

But the movie's heroine Shin Mi-su played by Han is not an original character. Rather it's a combination of Kim Ah-joong, who hit it big early this year with "200 Pounds Beauty" featuring herself as a symbol of transformation through plastic surgery, and Jeon Ji-hyeon, who represents a cranky yet enchanting beauty, as showcased in the classic romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl".

When Shin puts on chic dresses and sexy club outfits, she looks like Kim A-jung's after-surgery version. And when Shin throws up something unmentionable to a man after heavy drinking, she seems to imitate what Jeon Ji-hyeon did to Cha Tae-hyeon in the notorious subway scene.

Sidus FNH's distribution ambitions are reaching a final stage. Sidus FNH is developing several titles, but the company announced that the project titled "Miss Gold Digger", Yonguijoodo Miss Shin (English translation: "Prudent Miss Shin") will most likely be their first title for distribution, at the end of the year.

The film will be a combination of a road movie and a comedy. Newcomer PARK Yong-jib will direct and actress HAN Ye-seul has been cast. HAN has become a popular actress through her television roles. "Truck" and "Radio Dayz" are also in an advanced stadium, according to Sidus FNH.

Sidus FNH formed an investment fund with Korean telecom major KT. Sidus FNH has been preparing its entry in the distribution market since early 2005.
