We uncovered a side to this actor we hadn't seen before~ These days not a week seems to go by when casting calls don't come pouring in... It's actor Park Yong-woo! His polished talent has managed to monopolize the love of audiences once again -

STAR FOCUS cameras caught up with Park Yong-woo right in time for the filming of his upcoming movie, . Park plays the part of a homicide detective, a character much different from his usual, more romantic and lighter roles. This time, there's a lot more action and a lot more "Mr. Tough Guy."

Park Yong-woo endured rigorous physical training for his part and rapidly dropped the weight to play the younger, lean cop. He also tanned his fair skin, giving himself a more rough image.

A lot of expectation is riding on the star, especially after his success as lead actor in last year's, .
The straightforward frankness and confidence of attracted flocks of the younger generation to theaters. The originality of the plot and well-structured composition helped set the stage for Park's acting finesse. This was his claim to fame, his release from "supporting roles."

Selected as one of the most highly anticipated actors of the year, Park Yong-woo! HIS secret lies in his unfaltering path through acting... Most would agree that his success - is well-deserved.

The musical "My Scary Girl" is an adaptation of the film with the same title starring actors Park Yong-woo and Choi Kang-hee.

The romantic horror musical revolves around the relationship between a couple, and its unpredictable and violent yet humorous content is sure to grab the audience's attention throughout the show.

Two unique characters take turns singing and narrating the story. At times, they express the feelings of other characters in the show and add comedy to the show by producing interesting sound effects.

New York-based Kang Kyung-ae, who studied musical theater at NYU, wrote the musical while her fellow NYU alum Will Aronson composed the songs.

Aronson's songs, which are at times deliciously sweet and at other times downright bizarre, work perfectly with the story of the show.

The musical, which premiered earlier this month at the Daegu International Musical Festival, will be staged at the Chungmu Art Hall early next year.

It will also be staged by the Ba...| More

Park Yong-woo gives it all in a convoluted thriller

Kyu Hyun Kim (qhyunkim)

Well, here is another Korean movie that you suspect that the title (the Korean-language moniker, too, is the English phrase "Beautiful Sunday") was meant to be heavily ironic, given that it involves a police detective who gradually sinks into the cesspool of corruption and moral confusion in order to pay medical bills for his comatose wife, and an uber-creep who rapes a woman and then marries her later, hiding his true identity. "Beautiful Sunday", indeed.

Detective Kang (Park Yong-woo, "My Scary Girl", "Blood Rain") is making deals with scumbag drug lords, marked for death by his arch-enemy Sang-tae (Kim Dong-ha), falling asleep at a stakeout, and otherwise unraveling at the seams. His colleagues openly question his motives, and the sympathetic department chief can do only so much for him. In a separate stand of...| More

For many Koreans, the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945) is remembered as one of the bleakest, most devastating times in history. Films about this era usually portray historical events that remind viewers of Korea's tragic past as a subordinate country.
"Once Upon a Time" dates to 1940s Korea under Japanese reign, but interestingly, it takes a rather humorous and easygoing tone.
The story begins as the Japanese governor-general orders a search for the legendary 20-carat diamond called the Holy Light of the East. The diamond has been placed in the forehead of the Great Buddha in Sukkuram Grotto to shine at sunrise.
Park Yong-woo stars as a shallow yet attractive master thief, Bong-gu, who will steal and sell any kind of Korean treasure to a pawnbroker to make dirty money. He is also interested in acquiring the diamond for himself.
Bong-gu's plan, however, is foiled when another secretive thief, who calls herself "Haedang hwa", or Rugosa Rose, jumps into the game to steal the diamo...| More

Does a solemn vow as man and wife mean more to one person than another?
The movie "Cross Scandal" ("Changing Partners") asks its viewers to probe the intricacies of that question about the meaning of marriage.
One-night stands, spouse swapping and seduction replete with exaggerated sexual movements: That was what I imagined when I first read the story line.
Cross Scandal, however, tries to convey more than just another love affair.
On the one hand, its main characters, Yun-a (Uhm Jung-hwa) and Min-jae (Park Yong-woo), who have been married for three years, are like best friends.
On the other hand, So-yeo (Han Chae-young) and Young-jun (Lee Dong-geon), another couple, barely talk to each another.
The two couples meet at a social gathering and the sparks fly — but in all the worst ways.
Both couples find themselves attracted to the others' spouse.
The fact that the object of their desire is someone else's partner, something just out of reach, causes their desire to grow uncontrol...| More

Talented stars have been popular since high school. It is obvious that stars would graduate from art schools, such as Anyang Art High School, where "Rain", Se7en, Park Han-byeol graduated from, and Kaywon Art High School, where Hwang Jeong-min, Kim Ji-soo, and Jo Seung-woo graduated from. But there are also many stars who come from regular schools.

Suhmoon High School is the most prominent. Some graduates are Lee Hyo-lee, Han Ji-min of "Yi San", super model/actress Lee Hwa-seon, actress Park So-eun, and singer Lee So-eun. Lee Hyo-lee was popular with the guy students for her beauty and Han Ji-min received casting requests. Lee Seung-yeon, Jeong Kyeong-soon, and Oh Jee-hye are also alumni. A rival to this school is Eunkwang High School nearby. There are rumors that there were many guys who came to see Lee Jin, Song Hye-kyo, and Han Hye-jin.

Some graduates of Whimoon High are Shinhwa member Kim Dong-wan, actors like Lee Dong-geon, Yoo Ji-tae, Park Yong-woo, Han Jae-seok, Koo Bon-se...| More
