Sitcom 'Unstoppable Wedding' Becomes Popular in Asia

The daily sitcom 'Unstoppable Wedding on KBS 2TV is gaining popularity abroad after it was introduced in a Japanese magazine.

The first episode, which was first aired in November, features popular veteran and young actors including Kim Soo-mi, Im Chae-moo, Seo Do-yeong, Lee Jeong, Kim Dong-wuk and Park Chae-kyeong. Members of idol group FT Island and Girls' Generation have also made appearances on the show.

The sitcom is becoming popular in Asia, including China and Japan.

The appearance of Seo Do-yeong, Lee Jeong and Girls' Generation has played a significant role in the rising popularity of the sitcom.

Interview requests for Seo Do-yeong have been pouring in since 'Hallyupia'--a Japanese magazine on the Korean Wave--featured an article on 'Unstoppable Wedding'.

As Korean actor Bae Yong-joon's popularity continues unabated in Japan, heartthrob Seo Do-yeong is now helping fuel the Hallyu fever in the country.

In DVD sales released by Fuji TV Thursday, Bae's DVD topped overall weekly sales followed by a DVD released by Seo, the protagonist of the last of producer Yoon Seok-ho's season-themed drama series, "Spring Waltz".

Bae's DVD covered his appearance at the Hallyu expo on Jeju Island and interview excerpts. The top sales testify to his consistent popularity following his hit drama "Winter Sonata".

Seo's DVD, capturing his daily life, is climbing the sales chart since its release on July 25.

Tickets to the Korea Day event in Japan were sold out in less than an hour last week after a group of ardent hallyu (Korean wave) fans found out that actor Seo Do-yeong will be holding his first meeting with fans on that day.
Seo is known for his role in the recent television drama "Spring Waltz".
Shortly after 9 a.m. on April 6, news that Seo will hold a series of meetings with fans was released. Within one hour, a total of 9,000 tickets for three events were sold out. Seo will meet fans in Tokyo (April 18), Osaka (April 20) and Fukuoka (April 23).
"Spring Waltz" is one of four seasonal television series produced by Yoon Seok-ho.
His winter drama, "Winter Sonata", was the first to be introduced in Japan, bringing fame to Bae Yong-joon, or "Yonsama" as he's known in Japan. "Spring Waltz" is Yoon's second release in Japan.

Tickets to Seo Do-yeong's Fan Meeting Sold Out in 1 Hour

Some nine thousand tickets to the Korea Day event in Japan that this year includes fan meetings of actor Seo Do-yeong, known for his role in the TV drama "Spring Waltz", were sold out in just an hour.

Shortly after news about Seo's fan meetings broke out, three thousand tickets to each of the three events that will be held in three Japanese cities--Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka--sold out on April 6 by 10 a.m., after going on sale just an hour earlier.

An official from the Korea National Tourism Organization said that top hallyu stars have participated in the annual Korea Day event every year, and that the organizers of the event have been flooded with phone calls asking about ticket reservations.

Seo will hold mini-fan meetings in Tokyo April 18, in Osaka April 20 and in Fukuoka April 23.

'Snow Queen', 'Spring Waltz' to Air in Japan

The KBS drama series 'The Snow Queen' and 'Spring Waltz' will air on Japan's terrestrial TV.

The production agency Yoon's Color said Wednesday that Spring Waltz will begin airing April 7 on NHK, with a special introductory program scheduled a week earlier on March 31. Snow Queen will begin showing on satellite cable from April and on terrestrial TV in May.

A Spring Waltz special promo that will be recorded next Wednesday at an NHK studio will feature producer Yoon Seok-ho and the show's male and female leads, Seo Do-yeong and Han Hyo-joo.

Yoon's Color will also open a Korean drama promotion center at its office near the Hongik University area in Seoul, where parts of the drama were shot.

The agency said that, with government help, it will remodel the film venue into a center showcasing all of producer Yoon's four season-themed dramas including 'Summer Scent', 'Autumn in My Heart' and 'Winter Sonata'.
