[TV review] Heart-mending TV shows aren't convincing

"How can you mend a broken heart?" asked the Bee Gees in their 1971 hit of the same name. A 2008 SBS-TV show, "Best Friends Note", seems to, or at least claims to, have an answer.

As a relatively young entertainment show with only four episodes to date, "Best Friends" aims high to play the role of an angel that fixes the broken hearts of celebrities in relationship crises. Airing Friday nights at 11, the show features two celebrities who bear long-standing grudges against each other and gives them a chance to reconcile

The first to have a go were Lee Ji-hye and Seo Ji-yeong, who were one-time co-members of the pop group Sharp, whose friendship broke down after a dispute that reportedly included a fistfight, verbal abuse and a lot of tears. This fight saw the end of the group's successful career of almost a decade.

Star siblings, different as sun and shade

If there is shade, there is also a sunny spot. The entertainment industry also has its share of light and shade. It is especially prominent where siblings are both in the industry.

Most of the time, one sibling has all of the spotlight while one loses it. Those who don't receive recognition for their talent are called 'misfortunes'.

There are siblings even in this generation, including Ha Ji-won's younger brother Jeon Tae-soo, Chae Rim's younger brother Park Sang-uk, Lee Yo-won's cousin Lee Joong-moon, Jang Nara's older brother Jang Seong-won, Seo Ji-yeong's older brother Seo Bae-joon, Kim Hye-soo's youngest brother Kim Dong-hwi. Jeon Tae-soo acted in "A Good Day to Love" and "King and I" but he cannot move past the label of being "Ha Ji-won's brother".

2007 KOVINA Friendship Concert commemorates 15 years of friendship

Koreaand Vietnam consolidate their friendship through pop music.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on June 20 that they are holding the 2007 KOVINA Friendship Concert at Futo Stadium, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, on July 3.

A compound word of KO (Korea) and VINA, a nickname for Vietnam, KOVINA symbolizes the enduring friendship between the two countries. KOCCA aims to commemorate the 15 years since the two countries formalized their relationship and to promote and further Korean pop singers' advance into the Vietnamese market and in the Southeast Asian region.

Actor Jang Dong-gun, Other Celebrities to Perform in Los Angeles

Celebrities such as top star Jang Dong-gun, film director Kang Je-gyu, and singers Kang Ta, MC Mong, Epik High and Seo Ji-yeong, will publicize South Korean pop culture in the United States.

Popular South Korean celebrities will attend an event entitled "Glimpse of Korea" to be held at Universal Studios in Los Angeles in March.
