Combination of movie & TV drama continues to evolve. Exchange between Chungmuro, Korean equivalent to Hollywood, and Yeo-ui-do, hub of broadcasting networks, was born as filmmakers produced TV dramas and drama PDs made movies. The exchange has brought the boom of 'Cross Over' such as 'TV Movie' and 'Theatrical Version'. Recently, there is an increasing number of works whose two versions as TV drama and movie were simultaneously made even in the stage of planning. The film and broadcasting industries expect this kind of 'format convergence' to be a chance to increase efficiency and quality in each genre and call for thorough preparedness based on understanding of features that each medium has.

[Talk of the town] Big Bang duo star in murder movie

Two members of the boy band Big Bang have been cast in the TV movie "19-Nineteen".

This isn't the first time the two Big Bang members have been on screen.

T.O.P. (Choi Seung-hyeon), the oldest in the band, debuted in the 2007 KBS-TV drama "I Am Sam" and is currently shooting KBS-TV's "Iris".

Seung Ri, the youngest in the group, was the main character in the musical "Sonagi" last year.

He also appeared in "Why Did You Come To My House - Movie", a movie starring Kang Hye-jeong released last month.

"19-Nineteen", a movie with stories by Japanese writers filmed by Korean directors, talks about three 19-year-olds involved in a murder.

The singers will be playing the young students along with Korean actress Heo Yi-jae.

But acting isn't the only thing that T.O.P. (Choi Seung-hyeon) and Seung Ri have been working on for this movie.

According to the film's director, Jang Yong-woo, the two young men have each written songs for the soundtrack as well.

Heroine of film "Why Did You Come to My House - Movie"

"This film is for those who adhered to criminal activity or thought of suicide because of love, and anyone who ever did harm or suffered over love", said actress Kang Hye-jeong during the presentation of her new film "Why Did You Come to My House?" at a Seoul theater Thursday.

She said her character "Lee Su-gang" is "wacky, lacks social skills, doesn't have a big dream in life, but dreams of miraculous love".

Lee rarely opens up to others, but she loves one man, Park Ji-min (played by Big Bang member Seung Ri), in her own unique way for ten years. To stalk him, she enters the home of Kim Byeong-hee (Park Hee-soon), which provides a good view of Park's house. She saves Kim, who was about to hang himself to death. Then she ties up his hands and legs and locks him up.

The film continues the series of "female character" films such as "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", "My Scary Girl" and "Crush and Blush".

Hwayobi's Music Video Banned from KBS

Ballad diva Hwayobi's music video for her new release, "Half", was ruled inappropriate for broadcasting by the KBS review board, said the musician's agency on Thursday.

Her representative said that the decision was rather unexpected, because all the questionable scenes were edited out. The music video supposedly contained some nudity and kissing scenes, which were cut out voluntarily prior to the review. The agency said it took special care to edit the video for public viewing, because KBS has already banned the music video of Seung Ri's "Strong Baby" from public waves. KBS officials said that the music video's overall ambience was the issue, not specific scenes. Video will be edited again and submitted for another round of ruling by KBS. Korea's other two main TV stations, MBC and SBS, had given an okay to the same video.

Meanwhile, Hwayobi's new title song, "Half", was opened to the public on February 5. It is now steadily climbing up the music charts. ...| More
