Jeans brands seem to be replacing cosmetics as the most coveted prize among Korea's advertising contracts. Traditionally, becoming the " face " of cosmetics brands was the recognition of bona fide star status. Actresses Lee Young-ae, Shim Eun-ha, Ko So-young and Lee Mi-yeon were the dominant faces in cosmetics advertising for a long time, but a new generation of stars are drawn to pants.

Local jeans brands now advertise using big names like Lee Hyo-lee, Son Dam-bi, Han Hyo-joo, Han Ji-hye, Han Chae-young, Kim Ah-joong, and Han Ye-seul. Heo Jin-ho, the director known for films about fading romance, brings something brighter in "Season of Good Rain", coming to theaters in October.

"It's the brightest, most cheerful and happy movie among all the movies I've made so far", said Heo during a promotional event for the film Tuesday in Seoul.

The director is known for bringing together top South Korean actors in heartbreaking melodramas ― Han Seok-kyu and Shim Eun-ha in "Christmas in August" (1998), Lee Young-ae and Yoo Ji-tae in "One Fine Spring Day"; Bae Yong-joon and Son Ye-jin in "April Snow"; and Hwang Jeong-min and Im Soo-jeong in "Happiness".

This time, he pairs up heartthrob Jeong Woo-sung and Chinese actress/model Gao Yuanyuan.

Local broadcasters and the movie industry are preparing to help viewers kill the summer heat with horror programs and movies this month. Here is some of what's being offered.

MBC, which has had a successful history of horror dramas, including "M - Drama", starring popular actress Shim Eun-ha in 1994, hopes to reprise that success with the drama " Possessed".

The proceeds from the fair have risen 15 percent

The Seoul Open Art Fair, which continued from April 14 to 19, is estimated to have seen an approximately 15 percent increase in sales from last year. The fair had drawn particular attention because stars such as Kim Hye-soo and Shim Eun-ha displayed their artworks along with other artists.

The SOAF organizer said on April 20 that sales increased an estimated W600 million from a year earlier to W4.6 billion, and the number of visitors almost doubled from 25,000 to 48,000.
