Stars on the Stump Don't Guarantee Election Win 2016/04/17, Source,

Candidates who brought a famous wife, child or other relative with them on the stump were not always guaranteed a win in Wednesday's general elections. For some it went well. Actress Shim Eun-ha's husband Ji Sang-wook won his seat for the Saenuri Party in Seoul's Jung district. Shim cast her ballot alongside her husband and stood by him at a party office in central Seoul as the votes were being counted, and he duly thanked her for her support,...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "Born To Kill" 2015/02/28,
Kil (played by Jeong Woo-seong) is an assassin. Why, I suppose you could even say he was..."Born To Kill". Yes, that is an obviously corny and dumb joke. Well, get used to it. In short order we watch Kil carry out multiple murders. Very stabby murders, where Kil comes off less like a person and more like some sort of hybrid land-shark who's drawn to blood, water, and people who insist on horsing around in spite of the obvious rules against such rude behavior. Also he has a pet monkey,...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "Tell Me Something" 2014/02/28,
From the very beggining it's clear that "Tell Me Something" is not a film for the squeamish. You see the body on the table and then there's this person with some sort of tool and...oh dear. No, this isn't going to end well at all. It's pretty easy to guess what's in those black bags and no, it's never a good thing when they're inevitably opened. There's blood, body parts, plenty of general dismemberment. Just remembering those scenes makes me feel a little ill.
But rest assured- the film is quite tasteful in its depictions of discomforting bodily horrors. Director Jang Yoon-hyeon clearly went about the production of "Tell Me Something" with an artistic mind,...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "Interview" 2013/10/05,
Eun-seok (played by Lee Jeong-jae) has a novel idea for a documentary- find random people and ask them to tell their stories about love. The basic cuteness of the various interviews very quickly starts to trend toward a discomforting fact- though Eun-seok and his team have convinced themselves this project has objective value, the mere presence of the camera alone is creating an obvious influence both in the stories being told as well as what Eun-seok is choosing to interpret from them.
Whereas most directors try to explore cynicism by painting a portrait of a bleak world, director/screenwriter Byeon Hyeok creates this feeling by making a film about the utter futility in trying to find truth through film,...More
