Paparazzi aim to put Korean celebs in the frame

Kim Yoon-jin, an actress from the ABC series "Lost", recently told Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd on the CTV daytime talk show "The View" that being a star in Korea is different from Hollywood, because you are not stalked by paparazzi here.
Kim Hyeon-joo, another hallyu actress, confessed her bitter experience during a media tour to Hong Kong, when local paparazzi for a magazine sneaked into her hotel room and took pictures of discarded junk in her trash can.
Significantly, though, the paparazzi situation has alerted entertainment management companies in Korea. Local tabloids increasingly take paparazzi pictures of celebrities' private lives or print photos off the stars' personal blogs without their consent.
"It causes an extra burden on female celebrities, because the Korean public can be very cruel and conservative", says Lee Jeong-hun, an agent at Yedang Entertainment representing the Korean actress Han Ji-hye.
"A single photo is enough to dampen a career", Lee says.

Son Ho-young Invited to Hiroshima

Singer Son Ho-young will pay an official visit to Hiroshima, a Japanese city which has become a symbol of peace after the tragic atomic bombing.

Some 60 million tourists have come to Hiroshima Prefecture to see Miyajima and the Peace Memorial Park, which are included in UNESCO's World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Recently, in an effort to rediscover Hiroshima and make the charms of the Japanese city widely known both in Japan and overseas, "The Welcome to Hiroshima Project" was launched.

Son was invited for the first event of the project which involves top Asian stars to brighten up the atmosphere. On April 17, he will visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum with some 200 fans and then participate in the Welcome Party at his hotel. On the second day of his trip, he will move to a popular tourist attraction and hold a BBQ party with fans.

Son is expected to have a cozy meeting with fans at the party through a variety of activities, such as shaking hands, taking picture...| More

Celebrities Return to Theater

Once actors move on from the humble theater to the big screen, they reminisce over the hardships of those times, but also heave a sigh of relief that they're finally over.

However, they still come back to the stage returning to their roots.

The stage is becoming an attractive arena for movie stars and singers. This coming spring, a star-studded line-up of musicals and plays are awaiting the audience.

Veteran actress Yang Hee-kyeong will return to the stage in the play "Minja's Golden Age", two years since starring in the play "Old Prostitute's Song".

"Minja's Golden Age" portrays the relationship between Park Min-ja and her daughter. Min-ja, who abandoned her daughter and her home 10 years ago, suddenly decides to return home. Yang will play the role of Min-ja, a singer who works at a nightclub. The play will be staged at Yesul Madang in Daehangno, central Seoul, March 6.

Singers, making their debuts as actors in TV dramas?

Yoon Kye-sang, Son Ho-young, Danny Ahn, Rain, Eric, Yoon Eun-hye, Ahn So-hee, Lee Min-woo, Park Jeong-ah..
This is the list of top Korean singers.

Their talents and individuality attracted so many fans to fall in love with them. Sometime as a solo, and other times as a member in a group, they had been on the stage singing for their fans.

However, a whole new story kicks in when they choose the screen as their new stage. The long stagnation in music industry and the introduction of a new concept of "multi-entertainer" increased the demand for multi-talented stars who are talented in not only singing but dancing and acting as well. Consequently, these singers made acting as their second career.

For example, "Rain" (Jung Ji-hoon) in Director Park Chan-wook's "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", Eric Moon (Moon Jung-hyuk) in "A Bittersweet Life" and "Diary of June" and Yoon Eun-hye in "The Legend of Seven Cutter" have all made their debuts in the film industry.

Singletons love 'Singles' for message - not just for g.o.d.

The audiences for the musical 'Singles' are more than 80 percent female.

Women are packing out the theater for the award-winning musical "Singles".
The musical ran in Seoul last year, but this run is attracting an even greater number of single women, it seems.
"Musicals usually appeal more to women", said Choi Bo-Kyu, the show's producer.
"In 2007, 70,000 people saw the show and 70 to 80 percent were women. This time around, I'd say well over 80 percent in the audience are women".
Is this because the themes of the show resonate with young women in Korea today?
"That's part of the reason", Choi said. But he pointed out the additional appeal: Son Ho-young".
Son, who plays the Park Soo-heon character, is a former member of the Korean boyband g.o.d. and enjoys a huge female fanbase.
Lee Jong-hyuk, an award-winning movie and theater actor, has pulling power, too.
