 The state government of Hawaii has designated March 21st as the Song Il-gook Day after the star of "Jumong" and "Land of Wind". The actor will be in Hawaii for three days beginning on March 20 to receive a plaque of appreciation from Hawaiian Governor Linda Lingle and take part in various events. Song is applauded for his role in introducing Korean culture to the people of Hawaii.Following the gubernatorial event on the 21st, Song will attend a talk show with his fans to thank the Hawaiian people for their support and affection. Staff Reporter Korean heartthrobs Daniel Henney and Choi Soo-jong, folk singer Lee Moon-se, musician Kim Yong-woo and explorer Park Young-seok were appointed goodwill ambassadors to publicize Seoul metropolitan city, Wednesday. The "fabulous five" will be promoting different sides of the capital: Lee and Kim will be promoting culture while Henney, Choi and Park will publicize the international aspect of the city. "They are all top-notch celebrities in their fields, with charm and intelligence that could represent Seoul to not only other cities in the nation but to the world", Seoul brand manager Hong Sun-seong said. Park is a renowned mountain climber who has completed The Adventure Grand Slam, from the 14 8,000 meters Himalayan peaks, the seven summits and the three poles challenge, a world first. Some 66 celebrities have decided to let potential compensation for illegal use of their images go to people in need. They include actors Bae Yong-joon, Jeong Woo-seong, So Ji-sub, Kim Myeong-min, Song Il-gook and Jo In-seong and actresses Jeon Do-yeon, Moon Geun-yeong and Kim Tae-hee.
The Seoul High Court announced Monday that it had mediated an agreement between the 66 celebrities and a website they sued to drop the charges if the portal donates W10 million to a social welfare organization by the end of the year. The 66 sued the site after it published personal information and pictures without their consent. In the first instance, the court ruled the portal must pay W1 million in compensation to each suitor -- a total of W66 million. Singer Wheesung recorded the main theme song for a TV drama series for the first time since his debut. Wheesung sang "Alive... and Dead... ", the theme song for the brand new KBS drama series "Land of Wind" starring actors Song Il-gook and Choi Jeong-won. The song was aired for the first time on September 18.
The song was composed by Park Geun-tae and written by Kang Eun-kyung. The producers of the original soundtrack said the song has been getting a favorable response from both K-pop fans and drama fans. Wheesung plans to release his new album in October....| More | |||||||||||||||||
