[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Assembly" Episode 5 2016/01/09,
It is all about learning curves in episode 5 of "Assembly". As everyone settles into their new roles they discover that there really is no such thing as "settling" into a political office. It's a constant whirlwind of struggle that needs experience and finesse to get through. Experienced players of the political field like In-gyeong, Secretary General Baek, and Sang-pil's adversaries are skilled in the nuanced dealings of the National Assembly and all the politicking that goes with it,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Assembly" Episode 4 2016/01/01,
Episode 4 of "Assembly" sees Sang-pil's first venture into politics. He gets involved with a financial committee whose policies and functions are beyond his knowledge and education. All around him people hope to use his ignorance to their advantage. It is only In-gyeong whose moral compass fights the political pressure. The others, including handsome Gyoo-hwan, believe Sang-pil to be a selfish pushover who betrayed his union mates and his cause. They believe him to be deserving of any suffering forced upon him.
This belief does not exclude Sang-pil,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Assembly" Episode 3 2015/12/26,
Episode 3 of "Assembly" is really what pushes the main characters onto the paths that they will follow. They commit themselves to decisions they were previously unsure of. Gyoo-hwan (Taecyeon) deviates from his chosen path, while Sang-pil feels renewed commitment towards his. Politics has always been a skewed subject that has made for plenty of story fodder,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Assembly" Episode 2 2015/09/27,
To say that the events of the second episode were a surprise would be a gross overstatement. While well played, they were so predictable that the episode was mundane. It followed the process behind Sang-pil's ascension to the National Assembly and the catalyst for the change in his attitude towards his new career in politics. At this point in time, Sang-pil is no more than a pawn on the political chessboard,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Assembly" Episode 1 2015/09/20,
The first episode of director Hwang In-hyeok's and writer Jeong Hyeon-min's Assembly is labored and slow, but is, nonetheless, still interesting. It suffers some for the heavy political setup, but that ponderous plot material is offset by the experienced and grounded cast. We open with crooked politicians and businessmen battling powerless laborers whose plight is a vehicle for power more than it is a vehicle for change,...More
[HanCinema's Drama First Look] "Assembly" 2015/07/25,
Politics in Korean drama can be a tricky subject, as ratings for KBS2's "Assembly" have shown. Perhaps catching audiences at a bad time for intrigue and government drama, the series has not been doing well in the numbers. For international fans, this is only important if changes are made due to it. What is most important, however, is whether the series is actually good and consistent in what it presents itself as. "Assembly" is both,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Preview] "Assembly" 2015/07/11,
Dramaland is no stranger to attempts at new concepts. Sadly, it is also not a stranger to abandoning them before they have the chance to flourish. "Assembly" is a type of series which has been done before, but it comes at a time when the industry is desperate to sell, not to create good content. It also marks the drama debut of award-winning movie actor Jeong Jae-yeong, raising the bar and therefore making its potential fall more severe,...More
Taecyeon's first time in "Assembly" 2015/06/23, Source, Taecyeon turned into a hard working bar exam student named Kim Gyu-hwan in the drama "Assembly".
"Assembly" is a human political drama that deals with the origin of politics and the Assembly that has never been explained before. Taecyeon's role of Kim Gyu-hwan is one who doesn't give up even in tough conditions and makes a living by substitute driving at night and studying hard in the daytime. He gets involved with Song Yoon-ah as an affair and gets off on the wrong foot with Jeong Jae-yeong,...More
Not idol but actor Junho 2015/04/15, Source, Junho has starred in three movies so far. The three movies are "Cold Eyes", "Memories of the Sword" and "Twenty".
What is surprising is that he has grown into an actor in just 3 movies. Some may be prejudice and say that he's got an advantage because of his idol image. However, he's too good to criticize. He's already doing well enough 'for an idol',...More
The chemistry between two people 2014/04/03, Source,
In "Very Good Times", So-sim (Yoon Yeo-jeong) and Yeong-choon (Choi Hwa-jeong) are an odd pair. They are a wife and a concubine living under the same roof and they've become a strange pair since their toxic husband is out of the picture. The two women run a pork chop shop to make a living for their troublemaking family and they seem like a married couple themselves. If So-sim is a curt but deep-thinking husband, Yeong-choon is a perky and cute wife,...More
[HanCinema's Year in Review] Orion's Best Of Dramas 2013 2014/01/11,
Given the limited genres in Korean drama, it is very difficult to find series when one does not like the most beloved ones among them. I am not a fan of sageuk or melodrama and dailies are not a format I want to invest in, given I do not usually like the premises and do not consider Korean drama a medium worth investing quite so much of my time in. So among rom-com, action/suspense and other mixed genres, there was really not much I personally enjoyed this year. However, the few that I did enjoy were not within the usual rom-com fluff genre I prefer to melodrama and sageuk, which means I got some much missed diversity,...More

[HanCinema's Film Review] "Marriage Blue" 2013/12/06,
I-ra (played by Ko Joon-hee) is a wedding planner who finds herself in an awkward position after discovering she's pregnant. The father is Dae-bok (played by Lee Hee-joon), and the relationship isn't currently at a place where a long-term commitment feels appropriate. Dae-bok, to his credit, panics upon receiving the news, not because he's scared of being a father, but because he realizes from I-ra's diffident attitude that she doesn't feel the relationship has any kind of future. Dae-bok moves desperately to try and change her mind,...More
[HanCinema's Box Office Review] 2013.11.22 - 2013.11.24 2013/11/25, Korea Proves Fire Retardant as "Friends 2" holds True...
Kwak Gyeong-taek's "Friends 2" held onto the top spot despite the arrival of the engrossing "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". "Catching Fire" smashed the U.S. box office record for a November release, grossing a grotesque $161.1M as fans flooded the theatres to catch the second instalment of "Hunger Games" trilogy. However a slow Korean market proved incombustible in the face of this fiery U.S. action-adventure, choosing instead to re-elect Kwak's popular sequel as it moved onto 2.3 million admissions in its second weekend out,...More

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Final episode 16 2013/09/17,
Nothing much actually happens this episode. That's honestly not an exaggeration. Even the drama itself seems to acknowledge that there isn't anything left for these characters to do, as the entire opening is just a replay of the final dramatic scene from the last episode, where Si-On makes peace with Hyeong-Joon's ghost (or more accurately, he makes peaces with her). From that point onward, it's just tying up loose ends.
Except there aren't really any loose ends to tie up. The gangsters are finished,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 15 2013/09/16,
There's very little action this episode as, with Geon-Woo out of commission and thus unable to solve problems with gratuitous violence, Si-On has to resort to actual detective work to start bringing the criminal conspiracy to light. It's quite funny just how little effort she has to go to to do this, compared to every other bit of progress the investigation has made, which was accomplished with the assistance of severe mortal danger.
Less amusing are the hospital scenes, which are sad if only because of the context they're placed in. After the revelation of last episode's cliffhanger, there are any number of directions the narrative could have gone, and it picks one such direction,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 14 2013/09/10,
This episode is sad. Not excessively, sentimentally so, but most of it deals with the stark reality of coming to terms with death, and there isn't really any fun way to discuss that. The usual questions still come up- I find myself wondering how Si-On gets anyone to talk to her. We're always skipping the parts of these conversations where she introduces herself to strangers. What does she say anyway? "I'm from the Lost and Found, my job is to find random people who might know who owns these random objects"?
Yes, the function of this particular branch of the police department is, as always, not totally clear,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 13 2013/09/09,
Geon-Woo, faced with a hostage situation, does exactly what he thinks should be done in a hostage situation. Immediately succumb to all demands without any guarantees that the bad guys will keep their word. I would like to note, for any would-be police officers reading this review, that this is not how you should ever deal with a hostage situation. It's fitting that Geon-Woo is only saved from his stupid mistake thanks to the intervention of the supernatural. With a little help from his fists, of course.
There haven't been many ghosts in the drama lately, but this time around we get a little more focus and explanation on Si-On's abilities,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 12 2013/09/03,
The storyline has been very steady lately. Maybe a little too steady. It's still entertaining and interesting, and has been fairly clearly storyboarded, but the charm doesn't really seem to be there anymore. Maybe it's more accurate to state that the charm has worn off. Previous episodes went really overboard in the outrageous dangerous inexplicable category, and the feeling from those moments is pretty hard to top.
Now, to be perfectly clear, watching Si-On smack gangsters around with a giant wooden board never gets old. There's a cheesy element to the action sequences that always has a great charm to it,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 11 2013/09/02,
The relationship between Geon-Woo and Detective Choi has been one of the stranger points of this drama ever since we found out about Detective Choi's hidden agenda. From that point his character has been in the peculiar position of being both kind of an antagonist, and yet the only person Geon-Woo can talk to about his personal problems, since Geon-Woo condescends to his subordinates and his other superior (Si-On) is the cause of most of these personal problems to begin with.
In this episode the awkward nature of their personal dynamic is put into full focus. Geon-Woo, reeling from the events of the last episode decides to drown his sorrows the only way he knows how,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 10 2013/08/27,
This episode isn't bad, exactly. "Who Are You - 2013" still has the good sense to contain its drastic narrative shifts in a single episode to avoid too much whiplash. So while the last one was goofy slapstick, this time around we get a much more serious episode as we learn details about the past relationship between Si-On and Hyeong-Joon, specifically hinging around the day Hyeong-Joon died, and the mystery of what's in that weird box.
The trouble is, the episode still contains what I now consider to be the main hallmark of every character- their basic incompetence,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 9 2013/08/26,
Characters who had previously taken very specific actions in regards to their love interests have apparently failed to consider what exactly step two of their plan was. Geon-Woo knew when he contrived this a-date-or-maybe-not situation that you were still going to have to go to work the next day. Apparently he really was so short-sighted that the best plan he could come up with was acting like a shy, idiot teenager.
I like how, in spite of that epic kiss, apparently Si-On and Geon-Woo still aren't in what we could reasonably call a romantic relationship. Si-On barely even registers that the event happened at all,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 8 2013/08/20,
This drama is now deliberately straddling the line trying to see just how dumb its characters can act while still being basically sympathetic and creating a genuine conflict. It's like watching a high-rise tightrope walker. Sure, the fact that the drama has made it halfway seems to imply that it can do it the whole time- yet at any given minute I'm absolutely convinced it's going to fall down several stories and completely destroy itself.
As goofy as the storylines are, they're just barely real enough that I can't fault the humor or see it as out of place,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 7 2013/08/19,
The drama takes the perplexing direction this episode of actually being really, really good. I had trouble believing it at first, but most of the writing issues have pretty much been fixed. Characters now respond to events in largely intuitive ways. The dramatic tension is genuinely effective because the threats aren't arbitrary. The villain displays genuine competence and foresight. There's real detective work. When scenes have multiple possible endings, the different choices actually make sense rather than being different variations of absurdity.
Most of the goofier story elements are still there,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 6 2013/08/13,
This episode marks a departure from the series so far, in that it's relatively normal. There's not that much in the way of ghosts, ill-conceived ill-executed murder attempts, and contrived plotting. For the most part this is just the story of what happens when Si-On and Geon-Woo go on a company retreat. It's light-hearted comedic fare, with the occassional reference to the greater ghost storyline as, uncharacteristically, the two of them stop acting combative for the sake of being combative.
I give this drama a hard time for its absurdity, and for the most part it's well-deserved. A convoluted illegal plot does show up this episode,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 5 2013/08/12,
There's something nearly artistic about the screenwriter's insistence on making sure that every single plot event and character in "Who Are You - 2013" connects to everything else somehow, regardless of whether it makes any kind of logical sense. It's not even an idiot plot- the story feels like a divine hand is specifically manipulating people to do weird stuff for no reason just to set up whatever's going to happen next episode. Accept that conceit, and the characters are almost behaving somewhat intelligently.
The annoying ghost this time around isn't scary, but he has an astonishingly bad sense of timing,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 4 2013/08/06,
After an extended, protracted conflict that involves fistfights, knifefights, clubfights, and gunfights, we finally discover who murdered the poor chilly ghost who's been pestering Si-On. And it turns out...that it wasn't actually much of a murder at all. Legally speaking, I don't think the villain technically broke any laws. Well, I guess there's the shady guys in suits, the skulking around at night, the dismembering of the body, and the strange fixation with the suitcase, all that stuff was probably illegal somehow. But aside from that, there wasn't any real original crime to cover up.
Seldom have I ever seen a drama where so many people expend so much effort to accomplish so little,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 3 2013/08/05,
Si-On seems to have trouble making up her mind about the best way to get rid of the annoying ghosts. One minute she decides to just do whatever it is the ghost wants her to do, even if it makes no intuitive sense in the situation and makes her look like even crazier a person than usual. The next she tries to avoid or run away from the ghost, always forgetting that, as a ghost, Si-On can be followed basically anywhere. Sometimes she asks for help only to ignore it in a huff. Si-On seems to have forgotten that she can make the ghosts leave by taking her meds. Or maybe that was just the writer, I'm not really sure.
Ghost rules also take a perplexing turn in this episode,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 2 2013/07/30,
It turns out that the evil doctor is just as loony and cartoonish as the name "evil doctor" makes him sound. Literally the minute Si-On finds out his terrible crime, the stress of pretending to be an innocent person becomes too much for him and he immediately resorts to every ridiculous stock villain cliche he can think of in order to...actually, it's really not at all clear what he was planning to accomplish by attacking Si-On. There's a monologue reciting his villainous misdeeds. I guess sometimes you really just need to do an evil monologue.
Fortunately the villain has magical plot powers that keep Si-On from just beating him immediately. The evil doctor isn't physically intimidating at all,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - 2013" Episode 1 2013/07/29,
Within the first few minutes of this episode a police officer gets on a boat and repeatedly gets lost. He gets so lost, in fact, that the gangsters chasing him can't find him even when they just had the guy surrounded. "Who Are You - 2013" is one of those shows where spatial reasoning does not apply. Characters (and ghosts) can appear basically anywhere the plot needs them to, regardless of where they are or how difficult it is for them to get there.
Normally this kind of continuity problem drives me up the wall- however, "Who Are You - 2013" is so cheesy and absurd that I can't help but laugh every time it happens,...More

[REVIEW] KBS TV series "Dream High" - 1st Episode 2011/01/04, Source,
KBS series "Dream High" [KBS]
KBS2 Monday & Tuesday 9:55 p.m.
KBS drama "Dream High" takes off at seven years from now, with singer "K", a graduate of Kirin Art School, appearing at the Grammy Awards ceremony. Chung Ha-myung (Bae Yong-joon), the director of Kirin High, reminisces on how all he did was strike a "break shot" (the first shot in billiards that scatters the balls). The problem with the first episode of "Dream High" was in those balls. The way Ko Hye-mi (played by Suzy), the so-called genius in vocal music, jeers at popular culture went beyond arrogance to make it seem forced and the scene where Jin-guk (Taecyeon) easily fights off the men who are after Hye-mi, several loan sharks including their boss (Ahn Kil-gang) who are after her father, or the overuse of slow motion was cliche enough to be seen in a scene of an online comic book,...More

Co-produced by Bae Young-joon of KEYEAST and Park Jin-young of JYP Entertainment and starring members from idol groups 2PM, T-ara and miss A and female singer IU, it is obvious what KBS TV series "Dream High" wishes to be -- a drama which shows how the 'dream factory' really works along with the hardships young trainees go through to become a star, a drama about young people, and a drama where idols stars are the main characters. "Dream High" shows where it is headed to from the beginning with the story starting in the year 2018 with a man named 'K' from Korea sweeping the Grammy awards to become a world star and Jung Ha-myung (Bae Young-joon), the director of Kirin High School of Art, reminisces on the time when he himself was a freshman at the school,...More

Even though announcer Lee Ji-ae emphasized that both Bae Yong-joon and Park Jin-young were there as producers and not actors, it was no use. At the press conference for KBS' "Dream High" held at the Ilsan Kintex located in Gyeong-gi Province, a Japanese translator appeared for Bae Yong-joon's Japanese fans and 2PM and miss A's fans cheered for JYP Entertainment's founder and CEO Park Jin-young. The is how strong of an influence these two 'star creators' had combined. However, the title of 'producer' is something they were both uncomfortable with and they instead spoke of how the largest reward they have seen from working together was "meeting someone of the same age" and "with the same dream". Below are excerpts from the press conference,...More

"Muscle!" was what a fan from Hong Kong said as soon as she was asked what she finds most attractive about boy band 2PM. And when a girl, who would scream outright just by the mention of Nichkhun's name, was asked whose muscles she thinks are the best, without hesitation she blurted out "Taecyeon!" Numerous female fans from around Asia who like Korean idol stars for specific images crowded the lobby of the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macao where the red carpet event for the 2010 Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) was held. But the cheering was not reserved only for good looking guys. A 19-year-old Chinese girl, who introduced herself as a big fan of Big Bang and in love with all its members, went equally wild at the sight of girl group 2NE1 and imitated the "Abracadabra" dance by Brown Eyed Girls saying they were the group outside YG Family that she loves. The premiere episode of public network MBC's singing competition series "MBC Star Audition" which went on air live November 5 was sort of the launching episode to the show introducing its hosts and judges. In a way, a preview aimed at encouraging more participation before the actual competition starts. This was because while contestants have yet to start competing and show how they will grow as the program progresses, there was also a need for explanation on what "MBC Star Audition" is about. [FOCUS] Wednesday/Thursday drama rivalry - Part 1 2010/04/19, Source, "Cinderella's Sister" VS "Prosecutor Princess" VS "Personal Taste"
Picking out your favorite flavor is only possible when you are dealing with ice creams. For drama maniacs, it is practically a torture that three dramas, who each premiered offering similar doses of fun, are all broadcast in the same time slot. You may have yet to decide which channel to settle on with the shows still early into their run, so here is a comparative analysis which could help you make up your mind on which show to watch real-time, which to watch the re-run of, and which to watch through your IPTV service provider.
1. The Moment of Truth: The one scene where you can witness the producers' hard efforts
"Cinderella's Sister" Song Gang-sook (played by Lee Mi-sook) wraps her arms around Goo Dae-sung (played by Kim Kap-soo) when she is startled while riding on the back of his rattling bicycle. But the bike actually rattled because Song Gang-sook had kicked its rear wheel. This single scene describes what the show's two characters are like -- the sly Song Gang-sook and Goo Dae-sung, who is clueless when it comes to women -- and sums up their romantic emotions for each other. Thanks to such scenes, "Cinderella's Sister" explained its basic set-up in one episode and went on to unfold its main story. How the producers left a lingering feeling through using restrained forms of expression, such as simply showing the bike left behind after the two characters fall from a low slanted row, rather than attempting to explain the details to the incident, was also impressive,...More
[FOCUS] Wednesday/Thursday drama rivalry - Part 2 2010/04/19, Source, 6. Work and Love, Love and Work: The story for all three stories are set at the workplace
"Prosecutor Princess": It is impossible to perfectly reenact the process of investigation that prosecutors carry out unless the program is a reality documentary. However, "Prosecutor Princess" adds an abundance of detail into depicting the daily life of a civil servant. The show has received reviews that even regular office workers can relate to the portrayal of the job description of a rookie prosecutor. "Princess" could become a good example of an office drama if it lays out the process of investigations with common sense.
"Personal Taste": One can't really say it is specialized. The drama does not explain through what process a house is designed, how to trim the different kinds of wood in order to make furniture, or what the necessary preparations are in carrying out a bidding. The scenes where Park Gae-in takes part in a furniture exhibition and has Jun Jin-ho cut the acrylic from a blind in order to avoid an emergency situation adds onto the sense of reality in telling the difficulties one struggles as an employee.
"Cinderella's Sister": Everyone gathers together at the makgeolli brewery called "Daesungdoga". However, this Goo Dae-sung's world of abundance and is one of the things that Song Gang-sook wants, but it does not display any characteristics as a work place. One might forget that it is a brewery, if it did not show the scene of Goo Hyo-seon (played by Seo Woo) drinking the residue left after rice liquor is drained before going to school. As a whole, the story of the self righteous self-made owner, the femme fatale-like new lady of the house, and the naive yet talkative workers and large family all seem like trite set-ups,...More

Other idol stars have tried the lid hairstyle but the style originated from character Ho-sup in the 1989 MBC weekend drama "Happy Woman". That is why [Ok] Taecyeon is being called Ok Ho-sup. The avant garde hairstyle swept the fashion shows of Paris in 2008 but it was actually a hairdresser's accident which brought about the innovation. [Lee Jin-hyuk/10Asia]Q: If you were to compare your character [in "Personal Taste"] with Wang-son from "The Slave Hunters"? Kim Ji-seok-I (Kim): First of all, the two are different genres and the two are different characters. If Wang-son was the youngest character who was comic and provided fun to the drama, Chang-ryeol is a main character who has to lead the story. And he is also different from Wang-son in terms of appearance, so people might feel like they are seeing a little of Wang-son in the character, I expect viewers to quickly fall in love with Han Chang-ryeol. Han Chang-ryoel is the most luxurious character that I have ever played. What is crafty about a person's mind is that, when I was working on "The Slave Hunters", I wanted to do a modern drama. But now, with so many things to worry about including my appearance, I've come to think that dramas are all the same,...More

Q: You must be quite determined since this is the first drama you're taking on since being discharged from the military.Cheon Jeong-myeong (Cheon): While I was in the military, I had mentioned to Jo In-Seong that I would like to take on a certain type of drama and it was similar in certain ways with "Cinderella's Sister". So I was happy when I got the part. I do feel pressured because reports have been saying I'm making a comeback for the first time in four years. I'm just focusing on my acting for now. Q: What was it about "Cinderella's Sister" that worked for you? Cheon: I personally had wanted to do a film but had told Jo that it may be better to do a drama first since the reaction comes faster. After I made up my mind to take on a drama, I thought hard over which I should do. I didn't think I would be ready to take on genres outside youth romance so "Cinderella's Sister" worked for me in that aspect too. And more than anything, I liked the producer and scenarist. My close actor friends, such as Ko Hyeon-jeong and Jo In-Seong, had been in dramas by Kim Gyoo-wan. They said I'd have a hard time because my lines would be long but they told me it would be great and it would be an honor for me. Gi-hoon wasn't supposed to play such a big part in the drama. That's why I thought a newcomer would play the female role opposite me. But the script got changed the more I talked with the scenarist and my role got better,...More

Q: Cheon Jeong-myeong, have you gotten used to the atmosphere on set?Cheon Jeong-myeong (Cheon): I think I got the hang of things quite faster than I usually do because up until part of the fourth episode, we've been shooting on rotation so being able to meet up with everyone and act with them has helped. I also tend to prepare a lot in advance, read my script a lot and I had constantly kept in touch and met up with the other actors so that has also helped me to understand my character more quickly. I've become better at anticipating what will be in the next script I get. I used to get the hang of things into the second half of a drama in the past so I'm glad it's happened faster this time,...More

Hosts of "Steel Heart": Singer/actor Lee Seung-gi (left) and emcee Kang Ho-dong [Lee Jin-hyuk/10Asia]
"Everyone, are you going to feel tired during today's taping? You are, aren't you?" The person who says this in the most coy yet charming way is none other than Kang Ho-dong, the main host of SBS variety show "Steel Heart". He was a former national champion in Korean wrestling and currently also plays the Knee-Drop Guru [on MBC's celebrity talk show "Golden Fishery"]. And like the male Siberian Tiger he is called, more than capable of going out far beyond Korea, his show "Two Night and One Day" is also ready to soon go on its excursion to the South Pole.
With more than twenty guests appearing on every episode, inevitably making the conversations last for over a total six to seven hours in a single sitting, the show's taping session becomes a test of one's physical strength. Hence, the host has to tend to the audience before shooting begins and Kang's partner Lee Seung-gi also greets the audience members with his generous smile. But the audience seem particularly glad to see Lee Soo-geun -- comedian and former MC of a rival variety show -- and cry out in unison "Soo-geun oppa! Great to see you!" before the taping begins. But for Lee -- who coveted Kang Ho-dong's position as show host -- such moments of glory comes to an abrupt end, lasting only five minutes as he starts to ramble during his turn to speak.
