Major production house Sidus FNH has joined hands with mobile contents firm MO2 Communications to produce mobile games based on Sidus FNH's feature films.

After producing their first game based on comedy "Small Town Rivals" in March, the two companies signed a partnership agreement in March to create more games based on Sidus' past and upcoming films.

The next film to be adapted into a mobile game is "Femme Fatale", a remake of the French comedy "Serial Lover". Scheduled to be released on August 23, the comic thriller stars YE Ji-won as a famous actress who is pursued by four men who want to marry her.

The game based on the film will see the player act as a detective searching for clues to the murder of various characters. Although future games will be designed to debut at the same time as the film's release, in this case Sidus FNH said the game designers are taking extra time to ensure the game's quality, and it will debut in October or November.

I always find it interesting that most films that have a single thirty-something woman as the heroine are either romantic comedies or thrillers. This is an alarming sign. It seems that women can no longer survive in films by being the star's trophy wife, but we still have a slight chance if we are willing to acknowledge the fact that we are ludicrous underdogs.
Why can't we tell our stories without ridiculing ourselves?

Women are enjoying remarkable success on the silver screen thanks to comedy. The movie "200 Pounds Beauty", which stars the actress Kim Ah-joong as an obese pop singer, has drawn more than 2.5 million people since its release on Dec. 14. This is the best box-office performance by a single movie since the release of "The War of Flower" in September.
Although it does not measure up to "200 Pounds Beauty", the movie "Old Miss Diary - Movie", which opened on Dec. 1, has been enjoying support from a steady stream of moviegoers. The movie is a comedy centered on single women in their 20s and 30s. Year-end competition at the box office is intensifying with Korea's generally weak celluloid offerings faced with losing market share to foreign movies.

A noticeable change in December has foreign films faring quite well, while home-grown movies are struggling to bolster sagging ticket sales - an unsettling development for local studios which have relied on the unwavering appeal of Korean stars and filmmakers among audiences.

On Saturday and Sunday, three foreign films, "The Holiday", "Night at the Museum" and "Casino Royale" posted strong ticket sales, dominating the box office, while their Korean counterparts struggled to keep pace.

Although "200 Pound Beauty" performed well at the box office, other major releases such as "The Restless" were stuck with disappointing results.
