Actress stars in new film 'Sky and Sea' after a long break
After a long hiatus, singer-turned-actress Jang Nara has returned to the big screen with the film "Sky and Sea".

It's been six years since she starred in her last movie, "Oh! Happy Day" in 2003.

Asked why she chose this particular film to make her comeback, Jang said she has a lot in common with Sky and Sea's protagonist and that she was drawn to the movie's heartwarming story.

"It is a movie that will comfort you when you are exhausted, like warm soup helps soothe your burning tongue after eating spicy food", the actress said.

Sky and Sea is a drama that follows the life of Haneul (played by Jang), who lives a detached life due to a disability. Haneul meets Bada (played by actress Hyeon Junie) and Jingu (played by Yoo Ah-in), and the three grow up emotionally while building tight bonds with each other.

Singer/actress Jang Nara, who made a comeback after a six-year break, says she is scared of taking a new movie role because her appearance in the 2003 movie "Oh! Happy Day" was a fiasco.

Attending the production meeting for the movie "Heaven And Sea" on October 7 at 63 City, Jang said her worries had been chased away by her new role, which she liked very much. In "Sky and Sea" Jang plays a 24-year-old woman with Savant Syndrome who, despite her mental retardation, has a special talent.

"I did my best to act and talk like a six-year-old. It was easy for me to focus on my character thanks to the help of my coworkers", said Jang.

The manga of Fumi Yoshinaga has been a guilty pleasure of mine since I worked for the company that publishes her work in the United States a few years ago. Like many female Japanese comic artists she is obsessed with pretty boys, which doesn't do much for me but her characters are complex and inhabit gentle slice-of-life stories, crafted with the humor of a skilled and sympat"hetic observer of human drama.

Yoshinaga's only real mainstream hit is "Antique Bakery", about the son of a rich family who decides to open a Western-style cake shop, which is odd because he hates cake. A series of subplots introduces an ensemble of other characters most of them also beautiful men.
