MBC | Airing dates : 2003/07/28~2003/09/09Long time ago in Korea, during the time of Cho-Sun Dynasty, there was a group of women called 'Da-Mo'. 'Da-Mo' is the name of the job meaning the police woman. 'Da-Mo' was regarded as the low class but they had the privilege to investigate lady's private room and interview the ladies of the high society where no man could approach. Da-Mo's who are ... More
The full force of the Korean Wave hit Japan in 2004. Four years later, the phenomenon known here as "hallyu" has succeeded in creating a comfortable niche for itself in the Japanese TV and music world.
In November, 2004, the initial frenzy clogged Narita Airport, as thousands of Bae Yong-joon fans flocked to welcome him to Japan, ten people were injured as the crowd outside his Tokyo hotel scrambled to get a peek at him. Today, the hallyu boom has evolved into a calmer, sustained and widespread interest in Korean pop culture that has increased the Japanese public's desire to better understand the customs, lifestyle and cuisine of their closest neighbor. Of course, not everyone has rushed to ride the Korean Wave, but it has succeeded in widening the perceptions and perspectives of many. Here on the northern island of Hokkaido, where Korean TV dramas are especially popular, signs of the hallyu presence are everywhere. Ladies gently jostle each other out of the way to get at the wid...| More

If one word repays a thousand debts, then one word makes a drama shine.
In KBS "DdukBaeGi" on the 11th, Man-bong (Kang Kyeong-joon), who is accused of stealing a wallet, states his innocence. He says, "I'm a fan of Na Hoon-ah. There's something I learned from him, and I will show you", and unzips his pants. The lines parody a scene from Na Hoon-ah's recent press conference. The fitting lines that make us slap our knees unknowingly. Because of Man-bong's one line, "DdukBaeGi" feels newer. Many dramas have produced well-known lines. The most well-known is 'I'll break it all', by Shim Eun-ha in "Trap of Youth", 'Are you hurting? I'm hurting too', by Lee Seo-jin in "Damo", 'You're inside here', by Lee Dong-geon in "Lovers in Paris", and 'Look at your state', by Han Ye-seul in "Fantastic Couple". There are more, too many to list. "On Air", a drama that outlined the truth of working in a broadcasting company, had many famous lines. "How are there double winners for the best award...| More
The backbone actors of SBS "Iljimae" are becoming a hot issue. They are Lee Moon-sik, Kim Chang-wan, and Ahn Kil-kang.
Lee Moon-sik, who plays the role of Swe-dol, showed his 'passion' by volunteering to taking out his teeth to differentiate from his character in "Damo". The producers, who were moved, inserted the story of his teeth coming out in the drama. In the drama, Swe-dol will face the danger of getting his wrist cut off from Byeon-shik (Lee Won-jong) because he assaulted Shi-wan. But eventually, it will change to him getting his teeth pulled. They will show him without his front teeth. Following his role in "King and I", Ahn Kil-kang drew attention when he shaved his head for his role of a fake Buddhist monk. In "Iljimae", he has the important role of Bong-soon's (Lee Yeong-ah) adoptive father and martial arts teacher to Iljimae. Kim Chang-wan is growing a beard to fulfill the role of king. He is working carefully to exhibit a realistic charisma as the villain who c...| More
