Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay will be presenting a Korean concert entitled Oh Joonsung Drama Concert - Music from Korean Drama Favourites on 1 & 2 February 2010. This performance features songs and instrumental pieces from soundtracks of some of the most popular Korean drama series written by composer, arranger and lyricist, Oh Joonsung.
Considered one of Korea's most sought-after composer/lyricist, Oh Joonsung will direct his 9-piece band, Green Cacao and a 23-piece orchestra specially put together for the concert. Some of these songs will be accompanied by music videos from the dramas. Joining them will be Korean popstars Bobby Kim, SHINee and Mario who will perform their signature tunes from the dramas, "Dream - Drama", "My Girl", "Get Karl! Oh Soo Jung", "A Witch in Love", "King and I", "The Queen Returns", "No Limit" and "Boys Over Flowers".

Korean actress Choi Jeong-won is gaining popularity in China with the success of two television dramas -- "Wish Upon A Star" and "Famous Princesses" -- according to a press release by her agency on Monday.

Actress Koo Hye-seon, 25, popular in Taiwan as a "hallyu", or Korean wave, star, has been picked as the best Asian actress by Yahoo! Taiwan, Koo's agency, YG Entertainment said Wednesday.
Koo, who rose to stardom with her starring role in the KBS-TV drama "Boys Over Flowers", claimed the top place in the "Asia Female Artist" category of the "Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards 2009".
She was one of the most "searched" stars by netizens in Taiwan, according to the agency.
Koo will attend the awards ceremony to be held in Taipei, Friday.
Koo has been wooed by Taiwanese producers to appear in dramas and music videos. Even before "Boys Over Flowers", Koo won fame by starring in hit dramas such as "King and I" and "Hearts of Nineteen".
Actress Yeo Woon-kye, who had been battling lung cancer, passed away around 8 p.m., Friday, at Incheon Catholic Medical Center. She was 69.
In 2007, the veteran TV personality had been diagnosed with kidney cancer while shooting the SBS drama "King and I", but continued taking on her signature feisty grandmother roles. She had apparently recovered, and the husky-voiced actress had been starring in the ongoing "Janghwa and Hongryeon" (KBS2).
She had to quit the show however due to pneumonia, which was later determined to have been a side effect of cancer metastases. The kidney cancer had apparently spread to her lungs and Yeo was checked into an intensive care unit earlier this month. According to local reports she is said to have lost consciousness a few days ago and had since been on life support.

He was raised by Weol-hwa and the old Swe-gwi, who ran the eunuch school. When he meets So-hwa, the daughter of a powerful noble, he falls in love with her immediately. He voluntarily becomes a eunuch to be close to So-hwa and is assigned to work for Cho Chi-gyeom, a senior eunuch. Entering the royal palace, he sees King, Sung-Jong and So-hwa spend their first night together. He becomes So-hwa’s loyal protector. As the political battles rage on among the courtesans and wives in the palace, So-hwa is chosen by the king to be his queen and Cheo-seon vows to be her loyal servant. But So-hwa is eventually dethroned as the queen and leaves the palace in disgrace. Cheo-seon helplessly watches these events unfold and he secretly helps So-hwa. But in a cruel twist of fate, he is the one chosen to execute So-hwa’s death sentence by serving her a bowlful of poison. After So-hwa dies, he looks after her son King, Yeonsangun as if he were his own son...
