MBC is enjoying top ratings with the hit period drama "Queen Seon-deok", and the broadcaster is expected to continue captivating viewers with its new sitcom "High Kick Through The Roof" and dramas "No Limit" and "Assorted Gems" (aka "Jewel Bibimbap").
"No Limit" made headlines when it was confirmed that U-Know from the popular boy group TVXQ would appear as the ambitious football player Cha Bong-gun.
It will be the first time for the 23-year-old singer to appear in a television series, and according to the production team, he has been working hard not to disappoint fans.
"Even after a long day of filming, I come home and I can't wait to go back to the set", he was quoted as saying by MBC.
When asked about his first attempt at acting, the singer said, "I'm pretty brave. Having a limit is like growing up. You have to overcome it to move forward. I think after the drama, I'll probably have grown a lot more than before".

Female characters on TV dramas are increasingly growing vicious these days, like those in the dramas "Boys Over Flowers", "Cruel Temptation" and "Again, My Love" While the main characters typically grab the spotlight at the beginning, it's the vicious characters who steal the spotlight as time goes by. The popularity of "nice" characters has been on decline recently, giving way to malicious villains. Vicious yet charming characters first appeared on Korean TV dramas about a decade ago. They first drew viewers' attention through the SBS TV drama "Trap Of Youth", which dealt with the subject of revenge. Its viewer ratings soared to 35.7 percent (according to AGB Nielson), attesting to its enormous popularity. In the drama, the innocent-looking main character, played by Shim Eun-ha, avenged herself upon the man who she was in love with but who had betrayed her.

| "Likable or Not" Reach Highest Drama Ratings since 2000 (Source) |

The KBS 1TV daily drama "Likable or Not" is now the most popular daily drama to have been broadcast after 2000.
On the 24th, AGB Nielsen Media Research released the results of a survey of the 20 highest-ranking TV programs by episode after 2000. The "Likable or Not" episode which aired on the 22nd ranked 17th with 43.9% ratings.
The daily drama edged in front of the 2003 MBC daily drama "Miss Mermaid" (43.6%, January 2nd) and the 2007 KBS1 daily drama "Hearts of Nineteen" (43.2%, January 2nd).
TV ratings for "Likable or Not" began at 26.8% on September 3rd of last year and have continued to rise steadily. The last episode will air May 2nd.... |More

Korean actresses Jang Seo-hee, Yang Mi-kyeong and Lee Young-ae ranked first to third among actresses in a Chinese survey on the most influential Korean actors and actresses.
Jang, who starred in the Korean drama 'Miss Mermaid', was the highest ranking actress at 7th overall, following male stars Bae Yong-joon, Song Seung-heon, Kwon Sang-woo, Ahn Jae-wook, Kim Seong-taek and Ryoo Si-won.
Following Jang was veteran actress Yang Mi-kyeong and Lee Young-ae, stars of the hit Korean drama 'Dae Jang Geum' (Jewel in the Palace). Then came Choi Ji-woo, Song Hye-kyo, Son Ye-jin, Han Chae-young and Lee Da-hae.

Actress Jang Seo-hee has been invited as a VIP guest to the Shanghai Korean Film Festival slated for October 1 in China.
Chang will participate in all major events of the festival, including a festival eve party and the opening and closing ceremonies.
Chang has received a special invitation to the festival as her popularity soared in China for her roles in the movies "Ghost House" and "My Captain Mr. Underground" as well as the TV drama "Miss Mermaid".
Organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, the festival is sponsored by China's influential institutions, including the Shanghai municipal government, attesting to the popularity of Korean films and actors in China.
