| Pop singer Shoo to tie the knot with basketball player boyfriend (Source) |
2010/01/25 |
Shoo (Yoo Soo-yeong), a former member of the once-beloved Korean pop trio S.E.S., will officially be tying the knot with her boyfriend of two years, Lim Hyo-sung, a pro-basketball player with the Incheon ET Land Elephants.
According to Shoo's entertainment group, Spinach Music, the tentative wedding date is April 11. The date may change if Lim's basketball team advances to sixth place and qualifies for the KBL play-offs. With the
Elephants doing well in their first season under their new name, the chances of this are increasingly likely.
Shoo has said that she hopes that her fiancée would help his team advance into the play-offs, not worried about her wedding date potentially being pushed back.
Though the news of their relationship was only recently made public, the couple was introduced by an acquaintance in 2008 and they've been dating since then.
Shoo had previously given fans reason to be suspicious and ask questions about her relationship with Lim, after having been... |More

Song Il-gon's mise-en-scene is admired for its poeticism and arresting imagination, and his trademark qualities prevail in his first feature documentary, "Dance of Time".
He brings a gem of a film that, though rooted in reality, gives full bloom to romanticism, reading more like a love letter to Cubans rather than a historical account of a unique branch of the Korean Diaspora.
"I've always wanted to travel to Cuba", the 38-year-old cineaste told The Korea Times over a shot of espresso, in a small cafe in downtown Seoul last week.
He had his heart set on the Caribbean country as the backdrop of a new love story. But when Cuba's national baseball team visited Korea last year, he met a local interpreter and was surprised to learn about fifth- and sixth-generation "Coreanos".
A century ago a group of Joseon (1392-1910) laborers set sail for Cuba in hopes of returning with a fortune. But they were forced to toil away on henequen farms, never ma... |More

Asian dramas, including Korean, have become hits in the 2000s.
The huge demand from viewers for Asian telenovelas has prompted Philippine TV stations to import Korean and Taiwanese dramas.
Top Korean drama series (locally called "Koreanovelas") like "Lovers in Paris", "Full House", "My Name is Kim Sam-soon", "Stairway to Heaven" and "Coffee Prince" were imported and dubbed in Filipino, instantly becoming hits.
The success of "Dae Jang Geum" (or "Jewel in the Palace") in Korea was also replicated in the Philippines and many other Asian countries.
The Taiwanese drama "Meteor Garden" was also a ratings success when it ai... |More

Actress Han Chae-young, who stars in the hit KBS drama "Boys Over Flowers", has been cast alongside popular actor Jang Dong-gun in the upcoming film "Good Morning President", Yonhap News Agency reported Monday.
Han's agency BH Entertainment confirmed the actress will play the role of the outgoing president's beautiful daughter, who falls in love with Jang's character.
"Good Morning President" will be a film about three fictional Korean presidents: an old, outgoing president who wins the lottery, a young charismatic president and Korea's first female president.
