The New York Asian Film Festival which has already screened a host of Korean films has honoured two of Korea's up and coming actors KONG Hyo-jin and SO Ji-sub. Both actors received the Rising Star Asia Award. Both actors appeared accompanying their films showing at the 8th annual festival.
KONG who won the award because of LEE Kyoung-mi's "Crush and Blush" (2008) earlier won The 11th Director's Cut Awards for Best actress in Korea. SO who has been acting for a number of years now appeared in TV drama "Sorry, I Love You" back in 2006 and numerous other TV series since then. He received his award at the NYAFF for "Rough Cut", the film written and produced in part by KIM Ki-duk.  Actress Choi Yeo-jin has expressed deep gratitude for actor So Ji-sub at the KBS2 talk show "Happy Together - Show" aired on Thursday. She said that So helped her a lot when she had just debuted and did not yet know much about acting.Choi first got to know the star when she was cast for the role of So's girlfriend who dumped him for a rich man in the 2004 KBS2 hit drama "Sorry, I Love you" "The drama is special to me because it helped me get where I am now. I was very lucky to get the part because I was then a rookie actress with no experience in acting", she said.  Actor So Ji-sub, who has steadily continued his preparations to advance to Japan, will kick off his singing career in Japan as a rapper.Nikkan Sports said Sunday that So will debut as "Rapper G" in Japan on Feb. 27 with the song "'Lonely Life". It said So made news in Korea in August when he anonymously released an album comprising two single tracks. Known for his mega-hit Korean dramas "Sorry, I Love You" and "Something Happened in Bali", So finished his military service last year and appeared in the Japanese film "Kita Gegegeno's 1000 Years of Curse Song". A Korean Film Festival will be held across China this month, bringing 12 Korean features to three major Chinese cities – Beijing (Nov. 14-19), Shanghai (Nov. 16-21) and Kunnming (Nov. 25-28).
The event, organized by the Korean Film Council, China's state film authorities, and the Shanghai International Film Festival, brings a mix of critically and commercially successful Korean hits to local Chinese audiences. Opening the festival is director LEE Joon-ik's rock-redemption comedy "The Happy Life" (2007). LEE Chang-dong's "Secret Sunshine", which has won numerous awards including Best Picture at the 2007 Asia-Pacific Screen Awards and Best Actress at Cannes (for JEON Do-yeon) will also screen.
