Hallyu star Lee Joon-ki in his previous TV series "Hero - Drama" [MBC]
Korean actor Lee Joon-ki will star in an upcoming historical drama tentatively titled "Faith" in English, according to his agency on Friday.
The actor will play the male lead in the drama, playing a young student of Eastern medicine who grows up be a legendary doctor during the Koryo Period.
The series will be helmed by famed Korean director Kim Jong-hak, who is known for his blockbuster scale dramas such as "The Legend" (MBC, 2007), which starred top actor Bae Yong-joon, and "Sandglass" (SBS, 1995), which scored the highest viewership ratings in local television history.##

A Japanese survey finds that the most popular Korean drama in Japan is the period series "Dae Jang Geum" or "Jewel in the Palace".
In a recent poll conducted by the Asahi Shimbun daily, 28-hundred Japanese netizens chose their favorite Korean dramas among 150 choices.
"Dae Jang Geum" topped the list followed by "Winter Sonata", "Beautiful Days" and "Taewangsasingi" or "The Legend", which starred "Winter Sonata" lead actor Bae Yong-joon.

| 'Birdie Buddy' Aiming to Captivate TV Viewers |

The small screen has had its fair share of sports dramas, so the question must be asked: Are local viewers ready for another one? The makers of "Boys Over Flowers" are recreating the famous comic book series "Birdie Buddy" as a golf drama this year, and despite the reliable production team, it's still too early to predict success.
Another Sports Drama?
Sports dramas here have not yet tasted true success: "Strike Love" (a show about baseball) failed to captivate viewers with its weak storyline, while "Triple" (figure skating) ended up being a run-of-the-mill melodrama. "Dream' - Drama' (martial arts) and "No Limit" (football) also lost their spark due to their lack of realism and shaky storylines.
But the crew and actors of the 20-episode "Birdie Buddie", as well as cartoonist Lee Hyeon-se, firmly believe this time will be different.

Top Korean actors Kim Hee-seon and Lee Joon-ki are being considered as the main cast for a new historical drama based on medicine helmed by famed director Kim Jong-hak of the "The Legend" series.
"We are still in the process of discussing whether she will appear in 'Faith' -- nothing has been set as of yet", actress Kim's agency told Asia Economic Daily over the phone on Friday.##
