Synopsis

Synopsis In the end of Goryeo era politically manipulated by the Yuan Dynasty, the ambitious King of the Goryeo Dynasty organizes Kunryongwe. Hong Lim, the commander of Kunryongwe, captivates the King of Goryeo, and the Queen keeps her eyes on the relationship between Hong Lim and the King with a reluctant view. Meanwhile, the bilateral relation between Goryeo and the Yuan gets worse as Yuan demands to install the cousin of the King in the Crown Prince of Goryeo with ascribing it to no son the King has. The King refuses it resolutely, so the high-ranking officials of Goryeo, who are in submission to Yuan, are discontented with the king. One day, the King gives Hong Lim a covert yet unobjectionable order to sleep with the Queen instead of himself to protect the independence of Goryeo from the Yuan by making a son, the successor to Goryeo throne.

  • [HanCinema Drama's Diary] My First K-Drama: "Deep-Rooted Tree"

    2012/04/28,
Ever since I dived into Korean cinema in all its cinematic glory and magic, there has been another side of the industry that I somehow managed to avoid. It's on the T.V. sets of thousands of diehard fans and junkies that swear by them and they are the topic of much discussion on Internet forums and between friends and families, not just in Asia, but around the world. Now perhaps it has been this very, almost cult-like and truly fanatical following, that somewhat put me off getting my feet wet, but this past week I took the leap and started watching my first K-drama,...More

He says that he hopes to communicate with and captivate his fans while on tour,...More
  • Rejuvenating the mind in Yeongju

    2012/03/24, Source,
When your job is as hectic as ours at the newspaper, it's hard to spend an active weekend outside. The usual Saturday routine for my colleagues and I consists of waking up at 10 a.m. to eat something and then going back to sleep until around 3 p.m. On Sundays, we stress out about going back to work on Monday and stay home once again. Tired of this weekend schedule, seven JoongAng Ilbo reporters decided to step out of our comfort zones and go on a two-day, one-night adventure to Yeongju, North Gyeongsang, to taste their famous apples and ginseng and visit historic landmarks that once housed Korea's most prominent scholars,...More
  • Song Ji-hyo: 'I Become Very Competitive Both in Acting and Entertaining'

    2012/02/29, Source,
Actress Song Ji-hyo (31), who is gaining huge popularity for her appearance on the entertainment program "Running Man", is one of the most popular stars these days. Her straightforward appearance is one of the most important reasons why the SBS TV variety program "Running Man" is gaining popularity, recording over 20 percent viewer ratings. She is an actress, but she never emphasizes her appearance and presents genuine and friendly behavior every time on the program, which definitely contributes to her popularity. There is another reason she is popular,...More

This has got to be one of the best movies that I've seen. Not just among Korean movies, but overall.

I enjoyed the movie very much, but I thought those sex scenes was a bit overdone, though those scenes maybe were needed, but they didn't have to show that much. The actors did a great job in this movie.
