A lineup of heartwarming family movies await audiences with Korea's thanksgiving holiday Chuseok around the corner. Among them, "Bravo My Life - 2007", "The Happy Life" and "Wild Hogs", show that one can never be too late to rock 'n' roll or hit the road on bikes. The latent spirit of youth awakens in middle-aged men, providing much laughter and tears for audiences of all ages, especially fathers.

Four veteran actors, Baek Yoon-sik ("Art of Fighting", 2000), Park Joon-gyoo ("My Wife is a Gangster 2", 2003) and Im Ha-ryong ("Welcome to Dongmakgol", 2005) make breakthrough lead performances in "Bravo My Life - 2007", now showing in theaters. Inspired by the true story of a group of white-collar rockers Gapgeunse (Grade A Earned Income Tax) Band, the movie traces the depressing retirement of Min-hyuk (Baek Yoon-sik).

Movies Out This Week

And before we go, let's check what's new at the movies.
Two Korean films out this week, one about a Korean adoptee in search of his father, and the other a comedy about a middle-aged man's dream.
Plus a comedy from Hollywood.
Here's Lee Jeewon.
We begin with one of the most talked about films of the latter half of this year.
"My Father" is based on the true story of a Korean adoptee in the U.S. who comes back to Korea as a soldier to find his birth parents.
He goes on a TV program and receives information about his father from a priest.
But he realizes that his birth father is on death row in jail.
The main character is played by heartthrob Daniel Henney, who's mother was adopted to the US from Korea as a baby.
Movie critics say the film is a turning point for Henney's acting career as he rose to stardom here mainly for his good looks.

"Because you are my father".

Next up is a Korean comedy drama "Bravo My Life - 2007", a loose remake of a 1988 Japanese movie.

Music Occupies Chungmuro Productions

It is now music that Chungmuro, Korea's "Hollywood", is taking up as the new trend in subject matter after it previously sought after the "gangster" film theme. The latest trend began with "Radio Star", which deals with the friendship between a singer who was once popular but since lost his past glory, and his manager.

The film did better than some blockbusters by drawing some 2 million viewers when it was released during the Korean Thanksgiving holidays. Ahn Seong-gi and Park Joong-hoon, who played the leading roles, won the best actor awards at the Blue Dragon Awards.

Then came "200 Pounds Beauty", which deals with an obese singer who goes thorough a drastic makeover to become a successful singer. Released late last year, the film drew 6.61 million total viewers before ending its showing recently.

Now in theaters is "Highway Star". Produced by comedian Lee Kyung-kyu, the film is seeing increasing popularity, recently exceeding the 1-million mark in viewership.
