The movie of the month for February is called "Bungee Jumping of Their Own".
The story is about a young couple, In-woo and Tae-hee, who seal their love by bungee jumping together, only to be separated when Inn-woo has to go off to do his army service. The movie then jumps 17 years into the future and In-woo, who is now a happily married school teacher, is still unable to forget Tae-hee.

Costume drama meets violent film noir

The film opens in 19th century Korea, the late Joseon period. A small island off the coast of Seoul, known for the production of high-quality paper, it is commissioned by the court, is visited by the special prosecutor Won-kyu (Cha Seung-won) and his men, after a suspected arson burns down a freighter and its shipment of valuable papers.
Soon Won-kyu finds himself embroiled in an island-wide conspiracy and a murder investigation, as those rumored to be responsible for the frame-up and gruesome execution of Commissioner Kang (Cheon Ho-jin) several years ago are killed off in equally horrendous ways: boiled alive in a dyeing kettle, having his skull crushed by a rock, and so on.
Neither the old yangban owner of the paper mill (Oh Hyeon-kyeong) nor his cynical son Kim In-kwon (Park Yong-woo) seems happy to have an outsider like Won-kyu meddle in the affairs of the island.

A soon to be released feature is about to join the ranks of Korea's burgeoning cannon of queer cinema. "Hello My Love", KIM Aaron's debut feature, comes at an end of a decade that has seen a relative explosion of new queer cinema. In this short space of time highlighted by such films as "Bungee Jumping of Their Own" (2001), "The King and the Clown" (the number one box office hit of 2005) and even "No Regret" (2006) the first gay film directed by and out gay director, Korean audiences have embraced this relatively taboo topics at least on a cinematic level.

This year's Mise-en-scene Short Film festival will showcase a total of 120 films. The film festival whose focus is genre short films will feature films genres normally associated with feature length films. These genres include horror, fantasy, love and even action. It features 57 films in the official section and the invitation section for foreign films focuses on varied stories surrounding the topic of death.
Behind the scenes is a wealth of talent and Korean film alumi. The committee chair this year is director BONG Joon-ho ("Mother - 2009", "The Host") and head of jury is director KIM Dae-seung ("Bungee Jumping of their Own", "Blood Rain"). On the committee is directors PARK Chan-wook (The Revenge Trilogy, "Thirst"), RYOO Seung-wan ("The City of Violence", "Crying Fist"), KIM Ji-woon ("A Tale of Two Sisters", "The Good, The Bad, The Weird"), LEE Jae-yong ("Dasepo Girl", "Untold Scandal") and many other well known directors.

| 'Bungee..'. Screening Looks Back on Late actress (Source) |

Four years ago on Feb. 22, actress Lee Eun-joo took her own life. On the 21st, the Korean Film Archive will hold a free screening of her well-known 2001 film "Bungee Jumping of Their Own" at the Cinematheque KOFA in Sangamdong.
After the screening, director Kim Dae-seung. who debuted with "Bungee". and script writer Ko Eun-nim will talk with the audience. with film critic Lee Dong-jin as the MC.
"Bungee" catupulted Lee Eun-ju to stardom after she gained public attention for her films such as "Trout". It is a love story transcending time, place and death. Lee played the lovely heroine opposite actor Lee Byeong-heon.
After it opened on Feb. 3, 2001, the film earned high critical and public acclaim and was watched by 960,000 viewers, which in those days made it a box office hit.
Lee Eun-joo starred in a total 9 films including "Bungee". She committed suicide on Feb. 22, 2005.
