| Korean Actress Kim Gains Spotlight in the United States (Source) |
2008/03/11 |
Despite having been an established actress in her native South Korea for almost 10 years, Kim Yoon-jin's star is still on the rise. Her career in Korea started out with parts in TV dramas and quickly advanced into film with her debut in the groundbreaking Korean film "Shiri" (1999). It was her role in this blockbuster that earned her star status and she was cast in other Korean films such as "The Gingko Bed" (2000), "Iron Palm" (2002), and "Diary of June" (2005).
In 2004, she scored the role that would allow her to break through on the Hollywood scene – the character Kwon Sunhwa on the hit TV series Lost. Kim plays a Korean woman whose characteristics defy those of conventional stereotypes typically attributed to Korean women. Just as the viewers find with each of the main characters on the show, there is more than meets the eye with Sun. Each of the characters on Lost is inherently a "good" person despite having made some questionable choices in life – and Sun is no exception. Her ... |More

| Singers, making their debuts as actors in TV dramas? (Source) |
2008/01/31 |
Yoon Kye-sang, Son Ho-young, Danny Ahn, Rain, Eric, Yoon Eun-hye, Ahn So-hee, Lee Min-woo, Park Jeong-ah..
This is the list of top Korean singers.
Their talents and individuality attracted so many fans to fall in love with them. Sometime as a solo, and other times as a member in a group, they had been on the stage singing for their fans.
However, a whole new story kicks in when they choose the screen as their new stage. The long stagnation in music industry and the introduction of a new concept of "multi-entertainer" increased the demand for multi-talented stars who are talented in not only singing but dancing and acting as well. Consequently, these singers made acting as their second career.
For example, "Rain" (Jung Ji-hoon) in Director Park Chan-wook's "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", Eric Moon (Moon Jung-hyuk) in "A Bittersweet Life" and "Diary of June" and Yoon Eun-hye in "The Legend of Seven Cutter" have all made their debuts in the film industry.

| Stars using stage names as singer, but real names while acting! Why? (Source) |
2008/01/24 |
Nowadays, it is no longer rare to see a singer taking on acting as either their second career or a main career after ending their singing business. Far too many singers are driven to acting business as if it is their final destination in their careers in showbiz.
Of course, it is great way of increasing and lengthening their popularity and competitiveness in showbiz; and a strategy of "One source – multi-use" policy, which uses one resource in various fields to maximise the profit from it.
The common thing between these singers who have half or fully turned to acting business is that when they appear in musicals, films or dramas, they use their real names even though they had been using stage names while they were in music industry.
For example, Rain maintains his stage name, 'Rain' when he releases his albums or singing on the stage; but when he comes out as an actor in dramas such "Sang Doo! Let's go to school" and "A Love to Kill" and a film "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK"... |More
