Korean actors Kang Dong-won and Ko Soo [Asia Economic Daily]
Top Korean actors Kang Dong-won and Ko Soo have become the main cast of a new action thriller tentatively titled "Psychic", according to movie producers Zip Cinema on Monday.
Kang will play the role of a mind-controlling psychic who tries to lead an ordinary life until he meets Kyu-nam, played by Ko, who is not affected by his supernatural powers.##
The movie will be helmed by director Kim Min-suk who has won the award for his film "Memories of Oldboy" at the 2004 Mise-en-scene's short film festival under the action category. He was also the assistant to famed directors Bong Joon-ho and Kim Ji-woon.

'I virtually lived up in the air for half of the eight-month production period'.
Actor Kang Dong-won has returned to the big screen with "JEON WOO CHI : The Taoist Wizard", the first motion picture made about the legendary Korean character. The film opened in local theaters yesterday.
The movie by director Choi Dong-hoon of "The War of Flower" (2006) is based on the Korean folktale "The Tale of Jeon Woo-chi", which is about a mischievous Taoist magician from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
"I had so much fun doing this movie", said Kang, who played the title character. "I sort of wanted to romp around, which I actually did".
The 27-year-old is better known for his roles in serious movies like "Duelist" (2005) and "M" (2007), both by director Lee Myeong-se, and he played a death-row convict in the 2006 film "Maundy Thursday" ("Our Happy Time") - the role that made the taciturn guy even more quiet than usual.

Actor Kang Dong-won has made a comeback after a two-year absence, wearing an outfit that perfectly suits him. He plays a malicious taoist in the movie "JEON WOO CHI : The Taoist Wizard", fabulously portraying the classical-novel character and even reinterpreting him in a fresh and mischievous way. He looks nothing like his confused character in "M" (2007) or the sad death-row convict he portrayed in "Our Happy Time".
When we met with Kang on December 16 prior to the movie's opening, he said that he wanted to gain popularity with more people. He said, "It's an entertaining movie. I tried hard to become closer to viewers. But unfortunately the rhythm of my acting was too slow".
Throughout the interview, Kang kept saying that he wanted to be more popular. He seemed upset about his previous movie, "M", which performed poorly at the box office. Costume drama meets violent film noir

The film opens in 19th century Korea, the late Joseon period. A small island off the coast of Seoul, known for the production of high-quality paper, it is commissioned by the court, is visited by the special prosecutor Won-kyu (Cha Seung-won) and his men, after a suspected arson burns down a freighter and its shipment of valuable papers.
Soon Won-kyu finds himself embroiled in an island-wide conspiracy and a murder investigation, as those rumored to be responsible for the frame-up and gruesome execution of Commissioner Kang (Cheon Ho-jin) several years ago are killed off in equally horrendous ways: boiled alive in a dyeing kettle, having his skull crushed by a rock, and so on.
