Singer Bada, formerly of female pop group S.E.S., has been invited to attend the 2008 Korean Film Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam, held to celebrate the 16th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Vietnam. She will perform in the opening ceremony at the festival to be held at the National Convention Center in Hanoi from May 8th through 10th. She plans to give a powerful and spectacular performance to the Vietnamese fans of Korean culture.

The 2008 Korea Film Festival will open with "Forever the Moment", based on the true account of the Korean women's handball team on their way to win silver in the Athens Olympic Games. Other films to be featured at the festival include "Welcome to Dongmakgol", "Tube", "Marathon", and "Hwangjin-y - Movie - 2007". The presentation of such box office hits is expected to promote cultural exchanges between Korea and Vietnam.

Director/writer RYOO Jang-ha makes his comeback after his 2004 "Springtime" (Kkotbineun Bomi Omyeon) featuring CHOI Min-sik, with the romantic drama Soonjeongmanwha (English translation: "pure comic strip") starring YOO Ji-tae and LEE Yeon-hee.

The film's about a thirty-year-old office employee and a female student who run into each other every morning at an elevator. Both are secretly in love with each other.

Filming commenced on the first day of April. The film is scheduled for a release in the fall. The romantic drama is produced by Let's Film.

YOO Ji-tae played CHOI Min-sik's character's nemesis in PARK Chan-wook's "Old Boy". He also starred in the period piece "Hwangjin-y - Movie - 2007" and HONG Sang-soo's "Woman is the Future of Man" (Yojaneun Namjaui Miraeda). In addition, YOO directs short films.

Song Kang-ho and Song Hye-kyo will attend the second annual Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong on the 17th. They were invited as the main characters of "Secret Sunshine" and "Hwangjin-y - Movie - 2007", respectively.

Tony Leung and Wei Tang from "Lust, Caution", Lee Yeon-gul, and Miki Nakatani, the winner of last year's Best Female in Leading Role award, will attend the ceremony to be held in the Hong Kong Convention Center at 8 PM.

Many Korean star actresses of the small screen have dismally flopped in movies although they achieve brilliant success and earn astronomical amounts of money in TV commercials. Now Jeon Ji-hyeon is taking the gamble, returning to the silver screen with "A Man Who Was Superman" directed by Jeong Yoon-cheol.

She follows in the perilous footsteps of Kim Tae-hee , who recently appeared opposite Seol Kyeong-gu in "Venus and Mars". It attracted a mere 300,000 viewers amid controversy over Kim's poor acting skills, which have been in question since her debut.

Ko So-young, whose beauty defies age, was also unlucky in films. Her movies "A.P.T" and "Go Go Sister" were both failures. And Moon Geun-yeong, once considered the queen of the small screen and the nation's little sister, fell flat on her face with "Love Me Not". Among the 100 movies released this year, only 4 movies had more than 3 million audiences, including "D-War" (8 million), "May 18" (7 million), "Voice of Murderer" (3.25 million) and "Le Grand Chef" which recently reached 3 million.

Among many movies that went into the black, following are those which closely reached the break-even point, including "Miracle on 1st Street" (Im Chang-jeong and Ha Ji-won), "Voice of Murderer" (Seol Kyeong-gu and Kim Nam-joo), "May 18" (Kim Sang-kyeong and Lee Yo-won), "D-War" (Jason Behr), "Paradise 1986" (Park Hae-il and Seong Ji-roo), and "Le Grand Chef" (Kim Kang-woo and Lee Ha-na).
