Top Movie Star Jo In-seong Dropped From University

Top actor Jo In-seong has been expelled from Dongguk University as he failed to meet the school's attendance requirements.

The university said that the 26-year-old actor was asked not to return to the Department of Theater, which has strict regulations controlling student behavior, as he skipped many classes last semester.

Jo originally went to Chunnam Techno College in South Jolla Province and later entered Dongguk University in 2003 to further his study of performing arts.

However, after moving to the university, Jo didn't have much time to attend classes from 2005 as he started acting in the film, "A Dirty Carnival", which was released last year.

Sidus HQ, Jo's management agency, said that he tried to balance both his acting career and studies, but failed to do so because of his tight schedule.

The agency said that he is considering resuming his studies through seeking reentrance, while continuing his work.

Jo In-seong arrives at a turning point

No one could have imagined that this young and willowy actor had it inside him. To begin with, Jo In-seong, 25, has such a "pretty" face that a gangster was the last role one could match him up with.

But watching him spitting out swear words with his eyes burning with anger in "A Dirty Carnival", it becomes obvious that the role of Byeong-du was made just for Jo.

Debuting as a fashion model in 1998, Jobegan to earn popularity as a smart and handsome college student in the MBC weekday sitcom "New Nonstop".

If "Something Happened in Bali" was a TV drama that made Jo In-seong (25) famous as a TV actor, "A Dirty Carnival", scheduled to be released on June 15, will likely to establish him as a movie actor.

In the movie directed by "Yoo Ha", the director of "Once Upon A Time In Highschool", Jo In-seong stars as "Byung-du", a third rate gangster who lifts himself out of poverty, dreams of success, but falls due to the very reasons why he succeeds. In the movie, he looks young and sounds young, but he wields a knife ruthlessly. The "gangster who is not like other gangsters" creates a curious reality in the movie.
