Fans of the late actress Lee Eun-joo have gathered to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of her death at Chungah Park in Ilsan where her ashes lay.
An official at the park said although almost three years have passed since her tragic death, her fans still remain loyal. He said many fans visited the crypt at Chungah Park a few weeks before the third anniversary of her passing.
Lee committed suicide on February 22, 2005 at the age of 25. At the time, Lee had established herself as one of the top young Korean actresses, starring in numerous successful films including 'Lover's Concerto' and 'The Scarlet Letter' as well as small-screen drama series such as 'Phoenix'.
Three years have passed but in the minds and hearts of Lee's fans, the memories of their beloved actress remain as clear as ever.... |More

Time now to check on the week's new movies.
From Hollywood comes a fantasy based on a bestselling novel and as for domestic fare we have a cheeky story about a very confident woman.

We begin this week with "The Golden Compass", based on a bestselling and award-winning book of the same title.
The book is the first of author Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy set in an alternative world where people's souls appear as demons.
The epic story begins when a teenage girl named Lyra tries to rescue a friend kidnapped by a mysterious organization.
Newcomer Dakota Blue Richards stars as the main character playing alongside screen heavyweights, including Nicole Kidman.

Good romantic comedies usually stick to the golden rule: Don't stray too far toward other genres, especially trite melodramas. "Almost Love" (Cheongchun manhwa) is by and large a watchable romantic comedy, but it does not obey the rule - at its own risk.
Director "Lee Han", who solidified his reputation as a young and promising Korean filmmaker with his debut work "Lover's Concerto", (2002), was given almost irresistible casting: top-stars Kwon Sang-woo and Kim Han-nuel.
Kwon and Kim showcased fine acting skills in their previous hit "My Tutor Friend (2003). So it is natural to expect that their new couple acting will be fun and thrilling. Months ahead of the release of the movie, a tantalizing rumor flared up that they were secretly dating, despite their strong denials. It boosted the publicity for the film, which is good for director Lee and marketing staff.

Actress Son Ye-jin, who delighted fans with her hilarious portrayal of a cunning flirt in last winter's box office hit "The Art of Seduction", returns to television later this month to deliver what she describes as "the most down-to-earth role" she has ever taken on.
Son, for the upcoming SBS miniseries "Alone in Love", plays Yoon Eun-ho, a cheerful, tomboyish swimming instructor who rekindles her relationship with her ex-husband years after their divorce.
"What amused and moved me was how the drama communicated day-to-day stories through honest conversations and situations", she said, at a media preview held in Seoul last week.
"Eun-ho is a very sweet, motherly and optimistic woman, who even after divorcing her husband worries for him when he is not well", the 24-year-old actress said.

| Japanese Media Call Son Ye-jin "Yonsama's Lover" (Source) |

The Japanese media has reported actress Son Ye-jin as being Yonsama's lover. The Japanese sports daily Nikan Sports wrote on June 27 that "Yonsama's lover, Son Ye-jin, visited Japan on June 26", and called Son a talented young actress who starred in the movie "Lover's Concerto".
In its report about Son's visit to Japan, the newspaper introduced the actress as the "heroine of the movie 'April Snow,' also starring Korean actor Bae Yong-joon", and said that some 250 Japanese fans greeted her at Haneda Airport. In the movie, which opens on Sept. 9, Son plays housewife Seo-young, who agonizes over her husband's affair with another woman, but one day meets lighting director In-soo, played by Bae, and falls in love with him.
Another Japanese daily Sankei Sports reported on June 27 that the actress's fans were enthusiastically excited when Son, who arrived at Haneda Airport on June 26, responded to their greetings with a charming smile and shook hands with many of them.
